rice husk conveying through suction fan

Posted Oct6-09 at 11:33 PM by shams.alam

I need to make a system for rice husk conveying trough a pipe,
System discription.
A fan will be installed at end of the suction pipe on elevated position, the fan will suck the rice husk inserted in the pipe and elevate it 5m above the datum line in the same stream of air generated by fan installed at the end through a filter installed in line with very low head losses. The target flow rate of husk is 80 ton/day.
I need a help for the calculation of the following parameters.
Fan capacity/suction pressure/motor power, pipe diameter

first of all the fan blades will be severly eroded by the rice husks so i suggest you blow air through a sort of ventury so that the clean air picks up the husks and blows them through the pipe.
when sucking the husks will accumulate in areas and erode the fan (when the **** hits the fan)
i had a similar problem in a freezing works and had to re engineer to avoid severe erosion.
similar problems are encountered in coal fired power stations where they convey huge amounts of coal dust to be burnt
