In summary, switching positions internally means moving to a different role within the same company. A sign on bonus is a one-time payment given to employees upon joining a new company or taking on a new role. Eligibility for these opportunities depends on company policies. Potential drawbacks include adjusting to new responsibilities and the possibility of having to pay back the bonus if leaving the company early. However, switching positions and receiving a sign on bonus can benefit one's career by providing growth and development opportunities, expanding skills, and increasing job satisfaction, while also showing value and loyalty to the company.

Hello all,

Well I work for a company that typically gives a sign on bonus for new hires. However, I'm (hopefully) switching positions internally to a new department. Do you think I should expect a sign on bonus in this scenario?

Thanks!
