Stop trying to sleep. Really. Try making yourself stay awake for something and you'll be dozing off before you know it...always works that way for me anyway.

Stick some headphones on your ears, queue up some songs you like and lay in bed. Sooner or later you just fall asleep.

That's what I do when I can't go to bed.

What's wrong, sweetie? Too much caffeine? Stress? I used to have this great book on relaxation techniques you could do at bedtime. I will try to find it for you. There was a great exercise on tensing and relaxing muscles -starting at your toes and working all the way to your forehead - and it works like a charm for me. It takes a long time to do because you go muscle group by muscle group and you have to tense each group for 10 seconds at a time but it really helps!

Write E=mc2 on your forehead in Sharpie every 20 minutes you are awake.

Just average 6 hours of sleep a day like me and you will have no problem sleeping at night. I promise. (Two days ago I came home from school and took a 'nap,' when I woke up it was 10:30 P.M. whoops.)

Ah, yeah! I can't sleep when I'm too tired and I just don't feel tired after an hour or more! Sounds like the problem is, being too tired.

Nothing is so sublimely beautiful as your love sleeping. It is the single source of all other joy and comfort in the world.

Of course she does! She might have trouble sleeping, but I can never sleep. When I get weary from my many studies and discoveries I can't sleep it off. I must press on and on without respite. Oh dear god, how I wish I could sleep!

When I really need to sleep, I just meditate (laying down). If you don't want to do that (or can't, I guess), exercise.

Indeed, the peaceful serenity of a sleeping partner beats the grating wail of a whiney hag any day.

So you sleep from 5 am to 2pm and then wonder why you can't fall asleep at 11 pm?

  • #31
If you go to sleep at 4 AM and make yourself get up at 6:30 AM, I guarantee that by 10 PM, even massive caffeine intake won't keep you awake. At least that worked for me yesterday. Today I'm back to not sleeping, but only have to wake up by 7:30 AM.

i don't know really. I've had mild insomnia even when i was real young. i think maybe my body just isn't made to be sleeping all night and active all day. when it gets dark out that's when i feel the best. my mind feels sharp and i have all sorts of energy. unfortunately, its usually too late to accomplish very much, but if i could take classes at 3am, i'd bet i'd be much more into them.

Ya I know what you mean. During the night, there are less distractions, and less commotion taking place around you. For some reason, I've also felt many times that my hearing ability is more keen at night, probably due to less things happening per unit time.

FAQ: Can't Sleep? Tired? Solutions to Help You Sleep

1. What are the common causes of insomnia?

The most common causes of insomnia include stress, anxiety, depression, poor sleep habits, and certain medical conditions or medications. Lifestyle factors such as caffeine and alcohol consumption, irregular sleep schedules, and excessive screen time can also contribute to difficulty falling or staying asleep.

2. How can I improve my sleep hygiene?

Improving sleep hygiene involves establishing a consistent sleep schedule, creating a comfortable sleep environment, avoiding caffeine and heavy meals close to bedtime, and engaging in relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation. It is also important to limit screen time before bed and to avoid using electronic devices in bed.

3. Are there any natural remedies for insomnia?

Some natural remedies that may help improve sleep include herbal supplements such as valerian root, chamomile, and melatonin. Relaxation techniques such as yoga, aromatherapy, and acupuncture have also shown to be effective in promoting better sleep. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before trying any natural remedies.

4. How does exercise affect sleep?

Regular exercise can improve sleep quality by reducing stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation, and regulating the body's sleep-wake cycle. However, it is important to avoid exercising too close to bedtime as it can increase alertness and make it difficult to fall asleep.

5. When should I seek professional help for my sleep problems?

If you have been experiencing consistent difficulty sleeping for more than a few weeks and it is affecting your daily life, it is recommended to seek professional help. A healthcare professional can help identify the underlying cause of your sleep problems and develop a personalized treatment plan to improve your sleep.
