A choice is the range of different things from which you can choose. The arrival at a choice may incorporate motivators and models. For example, a traveler might choose a route for a journey based on the preference of arriving at a given destination at a specified time. The preferred (and therefore chosen) route can then account for information such as the length of each of the possible routes, the amount of fuel in the vehicle, traffic conditions, etc.
Simple choices might include what to eat for dinner or what to wear on a Saturday morning – choices that have relatively low-impact on the chooser's life overall. More complex choices might involve (for example) what candidate to vote for in an election, what profession to pursue, a life partner, etc. – choices based on multiple influences and having larger ramifications.
Freedom of choice is generally cherished, whereas a severely limited or artificially restricted choice can lead to discomfort with choosing, and possibly an unsatisfactory outcome. In contrast, a choice with excessively numerous options may lead to confusion, reduced satisfaction, regret of the alternatives not taken, and indifference in an unstructured existence;
and the illusion that choosing an object or a course, necessarily leads to the control of that object or course, can cause psychological problems.
I'm trying to understand the delayed choice quantum eraser experiment without consciousness.
As I understand it, photons will either interfere or not depending on whether or not "which-path" information is randomly hidden and rendered unkowable to the experimenter. That is, rather the by any...

Hi everyone,
a friend once emailed me a crazy multiple choice question. I thought about it for a while but then gave up.
I can't find it anymore, but I remember it was something like:
What is the probability of answering this question correctly?

2) 50%
3) 33%
Does anybody know what the...

How would MWI explain the delayed choice quantum eraser?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_choice_quantum_eraser#The_experiment_of_Kim_et_al._.282000.29
I don't see how this can be explained with MWI.
If the idler photon hits detector 1 or 2, an interference pattern can be seen on the...
As the results for physics phd program admissions have come out, I am lucky enough to get into several top programs including Stanford, Harvard and Princeton. So far, I have no clue which one to choose and I would like to hear some advice.
Personally, I would like to study hep-th and I am more...

Would on a exoplanet with dense atmosphere zeppelin/blimp better idea than a plane?
If I get it right there would be:
-much higher buyancy (argument for zeppelin)
-higher drag (argument against plane)
-higher lift (argument for plane)
(but I'm not good enough to know what would matter)...

Hey, i was doing a multiple choice question and i got 0.83/1 on it... There were 6 options to choose from and you could choose as many as you liked. I only picked one of the options. I'm confused as to how or what equation is used to calculate what mark you will get on each multiple choice...
Hello,
I am quite new to GR and I have a question regarding the construction of the action to find the geodesic equation.
In pretty much every book, you'll find:
##S=-m ∫ dS##
using: ## dS=dS\frac{d\tau}{d\tau}=\sqrt{g_{\mu \nu}\frac{dx^{\mu}}{d\tau}\frac{dx^{\nu}}{d\tau}}d\tau## with...
Good day, forum.
Last year I finished my bachelor in physics, and due to a mess-up on my behalf, I could not begin on my masters degree at once. This has given me a one-year pause which I spend working, and most importantly, thinking about what I wish to do from now on. I've come to realize that...
I found other threads with the same title on this forum but my question is somehow differ.
I think this was the most simple DCQE with double slits: http://arxiv.org/pdf/quant-ph/0106078v1.pdf
For a short summary: the experimental setup uses an entangled pair of photons (p and s). The s-photons...
Hello,

I am having a personal discussion with somebody elsewhere (not on Physics Forums) and we are stuck at the moment because of a disagreement that I narrowed down to the question whether, in the context of SR, two observers in different reference frames can choose the origin of their coordinate...
So I've heard of the many worlds interpretation - something about any event that could have happened in the past, really did happen in some parallel universe.
What I want to know is - how does this translate into personal choice?

First of all, I'd like to clarify my title by pointing out it is NOT a dodgy pick-up line. I am a female myself and have noticed that pretty much every woman who enrolled at my university in physics is going on, or plans to go into the field of astrophysics, myself included.
