hi...i m working on calixarenes.Pls help me out as i m nt able to dissolve it in a proper solvent.i tried 4 THF and many more.
Calixarenes are cyclic organic compounds that have a large cavity formed by a ring of repeating units. They have been studied for their potential use in various fields, such as drug delivery, separation science, and materials science.
The solubility of calixarenes depends on several factors, such as the size and structure of the molecule, the solvent used, and the presence of any functional groups. Generally, calixarenes are sparingly soluble in polar solvents and more soluble in nonpolar solvents.
The solubility of calixarenes is an important factor in their potential applications. It can affect their ability to form complexes and their stability in different environments. Understanding the solubility of calixarenes can also help in the design and synthesis of new compounds with desired properties.
The solubility of calixarenes can be measured using various techniques, such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, chromatography, and NMR spectroscopy. These methods involve preparing solutions of the calixarene in different solvents and measuring the concentration of the compound in each solution.
Apart from the structure and solvent used, other factors that can affect the solubility of calixarenes include temperature, pH, and the presence of other solutes. Additionally, the presence of functional groups on the calixarene molecule can also influence its solubility in different solvents.
