In summary, the conversation revolves around the idea of having alter egos and unfulfilled aspects of one's personality. Some people express a desire to have different talents or traits, while others acknowledge their own abilities in certain areas. The conversation also touches on the topic of sexuality in nature and the concept of being respected by others.

Taken as meaning the opposite or unfulfilled side of your personality.

I have an under-used and failed artistic side. I would love to write novels and paint, if I could write or paint. I was a bit of a natural on the piano but I seem to have no talent for music composition, which is what I would like to do. I do think I might have done well as a gourmet chef as I love to cook. I was also a natural as a teacher. I have tutored quite a bit and really liked it. My students loved me and they did well, but I don't think I had or have the patience to be a full time teacher.

It's pretty obvious from that post that you're a total failure. Suicide is the only answer. (Tsu has my number, right?)

Wealthy philanthropist.

I always wished I had enough money to do some serious good in the world. As it is, I do what I can in my own little corner.

Novelist/writer, painter, musician/composer, gourmet chef, teacher.

Your alter-ego has multiple personality disorder? Does Tsu know about this?

Hmm, depends on which personality I'm using for the day.

My alter ego wants to be a flaky bimbo who hits all the parties and wakes up next to hot guys whose names she doesn't know the next morning.

Yes, but she eats my Chicken Kiev and Baked Alaska anyway; while I play The Summer Of '42 or Funeral For a Friend [if we knew the chicken] on the piano.

You biologists are all alike; sex, sex, sex. :-p

I took a class from the guy considered to be Oregon's foremost expert on wildflowers. When he walks outside on a spring day, he "sees sex going on all around him". I think it got him a little worked up at times!

Oh yes, Astronuc, are you a musician?

Yeah, well, you know what sluts those birds and bees are. EVERYONE talks about them and even warns their kids about them.

Are you deliberately ignoring the word alter, or does it need to be explained again? :-p

So I guess my alter ego would be an intelligent, mature college professor who is respected by all.

I think that you need a couple more of those little blue rollers after a statement like that.

I would of liked to be someone like Chrissie Hynde, except of course that I could play guitar better then her. My voice has always been to sweet sounding for hard rock.

My alter ego?

Hmmm... I paint, I'm a musician, I tutor, I write poetry...hmmm...

I wish I could cook and pick up languages easily.

My sister has all the luck of getting the good qualities of the family.

Yeah. Painter, musician, teacher, and poet are just so over rated aren't they? ;-p

My alter ego must be a Fransiscan nun. I have indulged way too much in earthly pleasures.

hmmm...men, chocolate, days at the beach, conversation with good friends.. all these things are wonderful.
IIRC, St. Francis used to sprinkle bitter powders on his all his food so he would not enjoy it. Too tough of a path for me to follow. I suppose I am a wanton.

SOS & MIH, I think your alter egos are twin sisters. You're starting to look more and more alike every night.

It's scary, isn't it? We're almost Siamese twins, but SOS got all the brains.

  Yeh, right! There was a TV program I saw once where they interviewed women and asked them if they would trade intelligence for a smaller butt. Some answered "yes" immediately, while others thought awhile before answering "yes." So if I have all the brains...?

My alter ego would be the nicest, stupidest, and most unsarchastic person on earth.

I'm a twin and people keep asking which of the two of us is the evil one. So I guess my alter ego is the good one.

You must join the 'Sistahood' so that I might be able to respond appropriately to a statement like that. (I've been warned about collateral damage.)

Alter ego? I don't have one of those. I'm brainstorming and nothing good's coming up. Zen monk? No, I don't have the communal monk demeanor. Street thug? Well, it might be nice but probably not. Musician, maybe a pianist, but that would probably not be so different from what I do now anyway. Maybe I could have been a charismatic cult leader.

  • #35
I think you should go with the charismatic cult leader. They're pretty popular :-p
