Hi, I was wondering if anybody might help be able to help me out. I need to make a flywheel that will rotate at around 20,000 - 30,000 rpm and I really don't want to die so I was wondering if somebody could tell me exactly what I need to take into account.
And is this the correct way to calculate tensile stress on the rim of a flywheel?
(tensile stress [Pa]) = ( density [kg/m^3]) (radius [m])^2 (angular velocity [rad/s])
Also, how much of a safety margin should I leave between the tensile strength and stress?
