Doomsday dec21,2012 - from physicists perspective

In summary, the conversation discusses the idea that the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012 signifies the end of the world. However, the group agrees to leave predictions and prophecies aside and focus on the astronomical information surrounding this date. This includes the winter solstice, the sun's pole shift, the earth's wobble finishing, the sun being in the center of the Milky Way, and the presence of supermassive black holes in the center of the galaxy. The group also questions if anything would happen if the sun were to go to the center of the Milky Way and if this has happened before, with sources and reasons provided to debunk this idea. They also address the influence of the History Channel and

Its bull*. You've obviously been brainwashed by watching too much History Channel, specifically the show where to say Nostradamus predicts the world ends in 2012 because of "special" alignment that occurs with the center of the galaxy, sun, and the 13th zodiac sign (or something like that). This is more astrology than astronomy.

The sun won't "go" to the center of galaxy. Our solar system is on the outer spirals of the milky way. I think you're referring to an alignment with the galactic equator or something like that.

This is such utter nonsense that I don't even know what to say.

Forget about it!
