I just got off the waitlist at Cornell and will most likely be attending there next year as a physics major.
I have always been fascinated by the natural world and how it operates, and I have a strong passion for problem-solving and critical thinking. Physics seemed like the perfect combination of these interests, and Cornell's reputation as a top research institution in the field made it an obvious choice for me.
The biggest challenge I faced was uncertainty. I was unsure if I would even get accepted off the waitlist and had to make decisions about other colleges while still holding out hope for Cornell. It was also difficult to stay motivated and focused on my studies while waiting for a decision.
I made sure to continue my involvement in extracurricular activities and kept up with my coursework, even after receiving waitlist notifications. I also reached out to the admissions office to express my continued interest in the program and to provide any updates on my academic and personal achievements.
It was an incredibly surreal and emotional moment. I had worked so hard and waited for so long, and to finally receive the news that I was accepted into Cornell's physics program was a dream come true. I was beyond grateful and excited for the opportunities that lay ahead.
My advice would be to stay positive and keep your options open. Don't put all your focus on one school or program, and continue to work hard in your academics and extracurriculars. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to the admissions office and express your continued interest and provide any updates on your achievements. Sometimes, being proactive can make a difference in the admissions decision. Remember that everything happens for a reason, and even if you don't get off the waitlist, there are still plenty of opportunities and paths to success at other institutions.
