In summary, the conversation discusses the speed of a jet, bird, or UFO seen in a video at around 1:51. There is no concrete equation or solution provided, but a screenshot from the video is included for reference. It is noted that without knowing the distance from the camera, it is difficult to accurately determine the speed, but estimations can be made.

Homework Statement

I want to know how fast this jet, bird, UFO is traveling at around 1:51. It appears to the right of Dana's head in the interview.

EDIT: I guess this forum doesn't do embedding?

Homework Equations

No idea, but here's a screenshot from the video.

It is too hard to find out its speed without knowing distance from camera, if it is a jet, you *may* guess its size and speed may be obtained with cameras view angle, but it is too hard to find. There may only be guesses i think.

Estimations are what I'm looking for anyways, I just want someone to either rule out a bird.

FAQ: How fast is this jet (UFO?) traveling in this video?

How do you measure the speed of a jet or UFO in a video?

There are a few different ways to measure the speed of a jet or UFO in a video. One method is to use the video's frame rate and calculate the distance the object traveled between frames. Another method is to use the known size of an object in the video and compare it to the size of the jet or UFO to estimate its speed.

Can the speed of a jet or UFO be accurately determined from a video?

It is possible to estimate the speed of a jet or UFO from a video, but it may not be completely accurate. Factors such as camera angle, distance from the object, and frame rate can affect the accuracy of the speed measurement.

What is considered a fast speed for a jet or UFO?

The speed of a jet or UFO can vary greatly depending on the type of aircraft or technology. However, in general, a speed of Mach 1 (the speed of sound) or higher is considered fast for a jet or UFO.

How can the speed of a jet or UFO in a video be compared to other objects or speeds?

To compare the speed of a jet or UFO in a video to other objects or speeds, it is important to use consistent units. For example, the speed of a jet may be measured in miles per hour, while the speed of a car may be measured in kilometers per hour. Converting the units to a common measurement can allow for a more accurate comparison.

Can the speed of a jet or UFO in a video be affected by visual illusions?

Yes, the speed of a jet or UFO in a video can be affected by visual illusions. For example, if the camera is zoomed in on the object, it may appear to be moving faster than it actually is. This is because the background is not visible, making it difficult to accurately judge the object's speed. Other factors such as camera movement and object shape can also create visual illusions that affect the perceived speed of the jet or UFO in the video.
