Physics Summer Programs for 10th Grader: After PARI Program

In summary, the person is a high school student looking for summer programs related to physics, particularly astrophysics. They have already been accepted into a program at PARI through Duke, but are also looking for programs that start after that. They have applied for a program at NSCL through MSU, but the results won't come back until April. They are also interested in other programs, such as Mathcamp, which runs from July 5th to August 10th and offers classes relevant to physics and automatic invitation for alumni to return in following years.

I am currently a high school student (10th grade) and am looking for any summer programs relating to physics, particularly astrophysics.

I was already accepted into a program at PARI through Duke, but this goes 6/16-6/30, and many programs I have found start before or during that.

So does anyone know of any programs that start after that? I applied for a 5 day program at the NSCL through MSU that starts in August, but the results don't come back until April, and I don't want to wait and hope I get lucky… Thanks.

I don't have anything Physics-based (though maybe look into your state's Governors' program, whatever it is), but if you've done up through precalculus and trigonometry, you can look into doing Mathcamp. Goes from July 5th to August 10th. Calculus experience is preferred, but it's a great experience and you can choose your classes, picking ones relevant to physics and whatnot. Plus, alumni are automatically invited back for following years.

I highly encourage your interest in physics and astrophysics. It is great to see that you have already been accepted into a program at PARI and are actively seeking out other opportunities to further your knowledge and experience in this field.

I understand your concern about finding a summer program that starts after the PARI program. One suggestion I have is to reach out to universities or research institutions in your area and inquire about any summer programs or internships they may offer in the field of physics or astrophysics. You can also check with local astronomy clubs or organizations, as they may have information on summer programs or events related to astrophysics.

Another option is to look into online courses or workshops that may be offered during the summer months. While they may not provide hands-on experience, they can still offer valuable knowledge and insights into the field of astrophysics.

Lastly, don't be discouraged if you are unable to find a program that fits your schedule. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the year to engage in physics and astrophysics, whether through classes, workshops, or even independent research projects. Keep pursuing your passion and don't hesitate to reach out to mentors or experts in the field for guidance and advice. Best of luck in your future endeavors!
