Troubleshooting a Plot Problem in Mathematica

In summary, the conversation is about a problem with getting a smooth graph at high values of frequency f. The person has attached a notebook and asks for help in finding the problem. Another person runs the notebook and gets a smooth curve, suggesting it may be a computer issue. It is later discovered that the y-axis is too small to show the variations in the graph, causing it to appear as if there is a problem with Mathematica.

HI,

I've done the following but the plot that I get is not what it has to be at the big values of the frequency f. The graph should be smooth but isn't..

Does somebody know where the problem is?!
The nb file is attached.

Thanks,

Hmmm. Strange - I ran your notebook, and I get a smooth curve. Perhaps your computer is having some pretty severe rounding errors. Kind of strange...

well, today it works fine over here too..but I didn't change anything..I think it simply depends of the Mathematica's mood..couldn't find any other reason

thanks for running the file,

Look at your y-axis!

Check to make sure your values aren't close to machine precision.

As J77 said, look at that y axis, the actual variations in your graph are so small that you can't actually tell what the difference between them is. Looks more like a scale problem, than any problem with mathematica.

FAQ: Troubleshooting a Plot Problem in Mathematica

What is "Plot problem with Mathmatica"?

"Plot problem with Mathmatica" refers to any issue or difficulty that arises when trying to create a plot or graph using the software program Mathmatica. This could include problems with data input, formatting, or functionality.

What are the common causes of plot problems with Mathmatica?

Some common causes of plot problems with Mathmatica include incorrect data input, errors in code or syntax, incompatible data types, and issues with the chosen plot function or options.

How can I troubleshoot plot problems with Mathmatica?

To troubleshoot plot problems with Mathmatica, first check for any errors or warnings in the code or data input. Then, make sure the data is in the correct format and that the chosen plot function is appropriate for the data. You may also try adjusting the plot options or parameters to see if that resolves the issue.

Can I get help with plot problems in Mathmatica?

Yes, there are several resources available for getting help with plot problems in Mathmatica. These include the program's documentation, online forums and communities, and contacting technical support for the software.

Is it possible to prevent plot problems in Mathmatica?

While it is not always possible to prevent plot problems in Mathmatica, there are some steps that can be taken to minimize the likelihood of encountering them. These include carefully checking data input and code for errors, using appropriate plot functions and options, and regularly referencing the program's documentation for assistance.
