salary is not discussed during any interviews nor beforehand, their assumption..... i would take a hit. The HR system in the US is broken, qualified individuals cannot get thru it and even with someone inside helping management is under pressure to cut costs, hence take someone who has less than half of the qualifications vs a fully qualified individual

As I said earlier, this is age discrimination in all but name.

I should also add that skills attrition becomes a reality -- the longer you are unemployed, the less and less likely it is that you will become employed in any manner.

no need to get personal. Finance, computers, semiconductors and aerospace are the industries. As for being off a year, I have over 200+ resumes out to multiple industries, so you can't say I spend too much time on the forums. I am an industry and customer acknowledged expert in my field, I have a skill set that most people would kill for, the reason I am not getting hired is salary requirements due to my experience.

I wasn't trying to get personal -- just trying to assess what I see as potential issues with why, after a year, you are still unable to find employment. I was also suggesting that salary requirements may be one among many factors (in my initial reply I also wrote about your age may be a factor -- employers may well prefer to hire a fresh graduate, American or otherwise, over an older, more experienced individual).
