How much programming in a physics degree?

Unfortunately, I live in the UK, so we don't have a major/minor system, if we did it'd be much easier, my choice is either computer science or physics. Only very few unis/courses allow you to take an elective subject (any 1 module from a course you want) but that is only for year 1 and then...

Need help picking university course -- Physics vs Comp Sci

Well here's the deal. I really think i'd enjoy learning the complex physics which dictates our everyday lives, however I am not so sure I'd enjoy a job in research, e.g. looking for exo-planets or somehow trying to unify quantum physics and relativity etc. I could imagine once everything that I...

How much programming in a physics degree?

Fair point, you wouldn't mind me asking where you've worked and/or what you've worked on?

How much programming in a physics degree?

I do agree, but I have a lot of pressure by my parents to do physics at uni since I am naturally talented at physics. To me too it feels like a tad of a waste, but at the same time, I would prefer a job as a programmer than a physicist. You see, the thing is I don't want a job in physics, I just...

Need help picking university course -- Physics vs Comp Sci

Agreed, I suppose I'm just being narrow minded at the moment as I am trying to self teach C++ and not doing too bad, but just want to make sure that all my hard work now wouldn't be wasted if I realize I won't be needing it or using it on my course. But I do understand what you mean.

Need help picking university course -- Physics vs Comp Sci

hmm, that is food for thought, considering the only real thing I am interested in is programming and AI design. Would you however know if the C++/code learned could be extrapolated into another job, e.g. software engineering?

do you have a link to those figures?

How much programming in a physics degree?

So I recently posted on here how I am torn between the two courses, computer science and physics, I am leaning towards computer science as I really want to head into the software engineering side of things e.g. game development etc. However, I feel like programming isn't as large a part of the...

Need help picking university course -- Physics vs Comp Sci

I do understand that physics has some computer science in it, which is also muddling things up for me, do you have any idea as to which languages the physicists normally learn? The thing is, I am looking at university courses now, and what I am doing is simply seeing if they offer C++, if not I...

Need help picking university course -- Physics vs Comp Sci

Hi, so yeah, as the title suggests, I am stuck regarding which uni course to apply to. It is between computer science, and physics (with astrophysics if possible), and was wondering what you guys think, as I genuinely cannot make my mind up. So I'll give you a quick run-down of why I'm stuck...
