Relative biological effectiveness is a factor that radiation dose is multiplied by to account for differences in biological damage by varying types of radiation. RBE is higher for alpha particles than any other, yet the relative penetrating power of alpha radiation is the smallest of the four...
Thank you for the thorough response. I get the gist of this, but I don't know enough about quantum mechanics to fully understand. Could you refer me to a good resource to learn more about these concepts?
A spin quantum number can have a value of 1/2 or -1/2. I assume that the negative means that these two spins are in opposite directions. However, what does the 1/2 mean? Why 1/2, rather than a whole integer? Are there some sort of units associated with this value?
Let's say you have a helix defined parametrically as
r(t) =<sin(t), cos(t), t>
Is it possible to eliminate t and write an equation for this helix just in terms of x, y, and z?
I microwaved a container of soup with a lid sitting on top. When I tried to remove the lid, a suction had formed and the lid was very difficult to remove, as if the volume and pressure of the container had both decreased. However, heated gas (in this case, steam from the soup) expands. So why...
