Spin of Sfermions: 2 d.o.f, Why Complex Scalar Not Spin-1?

Hi fzero, thanks for your answer. Can you check if my chain of reasoning is correct? - Spin 1 fields must lie in the adjoint representation of any quantum theory (I actually didn't know this was a requirement) - SM Fermions live in the fundamental representation => When extending SM with SUSY...

Spin of Sfermions: 2 d.o.f, Why Complex Scalar Not Spin-1?

I understand that the degrees of freedom must match. A Weyl spinor has 2 d.o.f (spin up and spin down), thus the superpartner must also have 2 d.o.f Is there a reason why it is a complex scalar and not of spin-1?

General Atwood system with moment of inertia

Thanks for your reply Spinnor, I agree the problem is within the negative moment of Inertia in the final acceleration equation. However, I can't seem to find a reason to justify it. (Doing so would somehow need to make the initial F=T-mg equation negative or somehow justify T_2 - T_1 instead...

General Atwood system with moment of inertia

Homework Statement I have taken this image from http://farside.ph.utexas.edu/teaching/336k/lectures/node79.html Hello, I am currently doing a project on Lagrangian mechanics. As part of my project, it was advised that I should redo each of the problems done using the Lagrangian method in...

    P-n junction diodes (Both bias)

Given this picture, the circuit is put in reverse bias. Therefore the electrons are flowing INTO the p-type junction. - As electrons flow into the p-type material the depletion zone is raised as the p-side is made more negative. A picture from hyperphyics.phy-astr.gsu.edu illustrates this...
