Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

I want to say that I am a simple person and don't want to hurt anybody or prove anybody wrong. I just want to clear my 'misunderstanding' of some well-established basic concepts. I also believe that in the pursuit of truth, we should throw our emotions/feelings out of the window. I believe...

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

Now, as is logical to assume, an equation that is correct always gives the correct answer. So, why has this answer that force is 'adding mass to itself a number of times, governed by the numerical value of acceleration' emerged from this equation. Does force mean 'this' also in the'...

    Entropy: Increasing or Decreasing?

Everybody says entropy of the universe is increasing. But after the big bang, matter formed, it came together, stars and galaxies were formed, on a small planet called Earth atoms/molecules came together to form unicellular organisms and then higher life. Our brains are organizing even more...

Will Gas Cool Down in Deep Space?

Thanks for your responses. But I am afraid to say that you haven't explained anything nor tried to do so. It seems to me that either you are irritated by such questions or you consider it below your standard to deal in such questions. BTW, I have studied all these concepts till 12th...

Will Gas Cool Down in Deep Space?

Thanks for the insight. Plz explain how is heat 'not' motion of molecules but 'related to' motion of molecules. How to define contact? The molecules of the gas are colliding with the molecules of the jar. The molecules of gas have forces of attraction and repulsion operating between...

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

Thanks. That's what I meant by complex. So, it means that the formula is an approximation but not a complete picture of things. Not arguing uselessly, I have heard that in quantum mechanics, interactions are more important than entities. In fact entities/objects are not considered to exist...

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

Plz don't get irritated. It's not for the sake of argument, but I want to really understand things. As per you, Mass and acceleration can be added again and again ( as multiplication is continued addition) but they can't be added once i.e. F=m+a is wrong. 'Why' is this so?

What determines the maximum acceleration of a ball in empty space?

But, here the acceleration seems to increase once the ball leaves my hand. Once I throw the ball, it attains a speed of 1m/s, then 2m/s and finally attains a constant speed/velocity of 5.1m/s. Is it because there are no frictional forces in space?

    Action & Reaction: Equal Opposites

As regards the question of 'action and reaction' between matter and space, I think that 'space' can also in some vague way be considered to have the properties of matter. I say this because scientists say that fluctuations of space lead to the production of 'material particles'.

    Action & Reaction: Equal Opposites

Why don't you think is like this: Gravity is the result of big bang. Gravity causes potential which pulls the gas together (causes it to move, and the story continues). So, what's the problem, if I say big bang caused the gas to come together?

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

These two forces are acting 'simultaneously' on the body. This is a very complex situation. Mere addition of these forces should not give the real picture, IMHO. Plz don't add gravity is not a force, I know it. I am posing this question in the context of what is quoted.

Will Gas Cool Down in Deep Space?

A mass of gas has its molecules moving. (Say in a jar) Another mass of gas has its molecules moving faster. This gas is hotter than the first one. So, heat is motion of molecules. Now, I take this mass of gas into deep space devoid of any gravitation. My questions are, 1. Will...

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

If speed and mass can 'interact' ( more the speed more the mass), why can't mass and acceleration interact. Now, please don't tell me that mass and speed don't interact via forces but via some yet undiscovered 'mechanism'. I am talking about 'interaction' not about how it takes place...

Why did Galileo use multiplication instead of addition in his gravity equation?

Let's consider an experiment. I push a small block (less weight) of wood on the floor of my room and I get some noise (sound waves/energy). I push a bigger box sound energy is more. If I keep on increasing the size of box, sound energy keeps on increasing. 1. Can I now say that...

What determines the maximum acceleration of a ball in empty space?

why should acceleration stop at all and uniform motion continue after that? How does 'acceleration' know when to stop?
