Help with learning more about OBD2 and CANbus in vehicles

I also found a book called The Car Hackers Handbook, which the author has put online for anyone to read. That has a ton of info on what I was wanting, and I'd suggest it to anyone who wants to learn about car electronics or car security.

Help with learning more about OBD2 and CANbus in vehicles

Thanks for the replies! I was able to find a PDF for a Toyota Prius, and wow, about everything is connected to the networks. In the case of Toyota, there appear to be 3 networks all tied in. The CAN bus, something called BEAN (body electrical area network, iirc) and a net for audio visual stuff...

Voltages used in carnivals, fairs, etc.

What are the diverse interests of a scientist in Missouri?

I was looking for a forum to ask an electrical question, and found this one. being the geeky type, and seeing all the other topics, I figured this might be a nice forum to frequent! I work a lot with telephone systems, primarily specializing in antique phones, but I also do some IT and CCTV...

Voltages used in carnivals, fairs, etc.

I have been wondering for some time about the power systems used in carnivals and fairs to power the rides. Is there a standard voltage used, like 480 VAC for instance, or is it even standardized? It looks to me like it is 3 phase, based on the cables I usually see. Typically 4 individual...
