[Cr(NH3)6]3+ has Cr3+ ion and the ligand is weak field.
Hence the configuration of Cr ion is 3d3,4s0
My doubt is,will the ligands donate electrons starting from 3d to form d2sp3 or will it start from 4s and use 4p and 4d to form sp3d2?
I know the 3 electrons of chromium are still unpaired but...
I am confused with the electron configuration of central atoms in complex salts eg. ##[Fe(CN)_6]^{2-}## configuration just Fe atom is
Now the complex is low spin so the configuration becomes,
Now we have 6CN. where will they donate their electrons? Will the donate electrons in the remaining...
Can someone outline a comprehensive way to figure out and write all the different isomers of square planar and octahedral single-centre coordination compounds, without needing to be able to see them in 3D (and without a computer)? Questions come up all the time on my exams and a proper way of...
Homework Statement
Hi.
The combination of Fe(II), H2O, Cl- y NH4+ yields 3 coordination compounds, one of which is:
[Fe(H2O)6]Cl2
Which are the other ones?

This is an excerpt from the book I'm referring:
"...when solutions containing two or more salts in stoichiometric (simple molecular) proportions are allowed to evaporate, crystals of new compounds separate out. These compounds are of two types : (1) Double Salts and (2) Coordination compounds."...
