A video game developer is a software developer specializing in video game development – the process and related disciplines of creating video games. A game developer can range from one person who undertakes all tasks to a large business with employee responsibilities split between individual disciplines, such as programming, design, art, testing, etc. Most game development companies have video game publisher financial and usually marketing support. Self-funded developers are known as independent or indie developers and usually make indie games.A developer may specialize in a certain video game console (such as Nintendo's Nintendo Switch, Microsoft's Xbox One, Sony's PlayStation 4), or may develop for a number of systems (including personal computers and mobile devices). Video game developers specialize in certain types of games (such as role-playing video games or first-person shooters). Some focus on porting games from one system to another, or translating games from one language to another. Less commonly, some do software development work in addition to games.
Most video game publishers maintain development studios (such as Electronic Arts's EA Canada, Square Enix's studios, Activision's Radical Entertainment, Nintendo EAD and Sony's Polyphony Digital and Naughty Dog). However, since publishing is still their primary activity they are generally described as "publishers" rather than "developers". Developers may be private as well (such as how Bungie was, the company which developed the Halo series exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox).
I'm a game developer by profession with a MSc in Computer Science. I'm curious about particle physics and everything else in the area of physics. I love to build stuff with LEGO bricks together with my kids.
Hello guys i am doing the introduction, i am just a simple developer and curious person, i am here just to discuss some things with respect, sorry about my bad english i am learning it, thanks for read and have a nice week :)
I am learning absolute basic python from udemy course. Till now I see no improvements at all. Except some small small improvements. How should I approach to learn python? I have 0 basics of programming even though I had already studied C and C++ as well as data structures and algorithm. I...
This year I made a resolution to by the end of summer build an Android app for my Uncle’s bussiness (Rent-a-Car) which would help him organise the dates of booking a car. I have previous programming experience with C and C++ but not with app creating.
The idea for the app is really simple but...

Hi,
I'm basically an Engineering student and love to explore technology. I was lurking and came across physicsforums. It happened many times that I got many of my questions solved here so I thought to make an account on it and start exploring physics at its full extent.
That's all I can say.
I applied at an internship for the position of a Junior Java Developer in Test and I am wondering if you can provide me some screening question examples?
The internship requires that I have strong knowledge in SQL and Java. I asked the recruiter to elaborate on the technical interview questions...
Hi everyone so I'm at a crucial point in my life right now. Since I was in high school I've had an interest in technology and have worked on installing computer parts, and learning how to write programs. I started my sophomore year learning C++ with the C++ Primer which I got through half of...
I am new here, and i really wanted to know if an aerospace engineer (today's aerospace engineers) have the ability or the skill to work as a software developer ?
Thanks
So i started my new career last week as an entry level software developer/analyst. Something that's been bothering me is that I'm not really a technology buff. I love to program because i like to solve problems/puzzles. Probably the same reason i like math.
If i had to describe myself i...
I'm aware that the answer is probably yes but if so would you need to spend a lot of time catching up or is the programming you learn in an EEE degree enough to place with a good stead for a job as a beginner software developer?
Would it limit you from certain roles?
I'm fresh out of college (21 years old) and i was recently offered an offer for 25/hour (40 hours) as an entry level software developer.
My original plan was to go to graduate school but, ~52,000+ sounds too good for me to pass up. The company also supports its employees by paying for them to...
I have a degree in B.S. Computer Engineering w/ focus in networking, and after helping my little brother with his capstone project in game design at his school, I somewhat wanted to make a game of my own. Consequently, I purchased Gamemaker during Steam Sale and finished all of their tutorials...
I'm starting my first year this fall so I wanted to find out all my paths with this degree. I will be attending Carleton Uni.

Hi, I'm an independent game developer (currently in college) and have been trying to solve a problem and get an equation for use within my physics engine.

i always want to develop some website but due to the lack of knowledge of programming, i can only use software such as frontpage.
I always want to learn java and C++ but the tight schedule of physics makes it impossible. I am yr3 now so i can't switch major and with 1 yr left.

I've recently made a final decision that 'Programming' is the career path i wish to take.
I've been playing around with Visual Basic for about a 6 months now and i wish to take it to a higher level. I've been reading online courses for C++ and watching video tutorials.
This, i realize, is...
I want to do something in thefield on onnovation. I want to be the first to develop something. There's all sorts of degrees in technology, engineering and the sciences but none(that I know of) in Development.

Hi everyone,
I graduate with a degree in Physics years back here in our country. My thesis involved developing support software for a LIDAR facility in our university. I've been working as a programmer ever since, mostly using Delphi and Java. I'm really interested in Physics (that's why I...
