Japanese is a challenge for Google Translate. "Jazz club" was translated to "Cannabis." Hmm, maybe they've got something there.
They also produced this:

Hi everyone.
So I am making a Ni-Mh battery , and for space constraints, I need to put 2 batteries in paralell + 1 battery in series with them.
So if I get two batteries of 2100 mah in paralell I get 4200 mah, but if I put them in series with one 2100 mah battery , what would be the...
Has anybody found a way to disable Google Doodles on Chrome browser?

So I got an invite to try Bard, Google's AI machine.
I asked it to list research papers by my PhD supervisor in the area we had worked on. It listed just five (clearly a very small subset) with none published after 1975.
So I asked again but this time asked for papers after 1975. Again it...
After an inauspicious debut by Google last month (Feb. 8th), where BARD (Alphabet's rival chatbot to Microsoft/C3.ai's Chat GPT) gave an incorrect answer to an "astronomy-related" question, BARD again seems to flop with its abilities in public testing the past week...
Hi everyone

Here is a spreadsheet that demonstrates how Shor's algorithm works.
The user first enters a number 'N' that has only two prime factors. Then, the user enters a random integer 'x'. Shor's algorithm does the rest in the factorization of N. A different value for 'x' must be tried if the factoring...

... At around 01:26 they say that data to and from the Google apps server goes across unencrypted.
Is that true, given that all these services are necessarily over HTTPS ?
On a related note, does a VPN layer add any value in terms of data security, above that provided by HTTPS ?
Is there a way to remove Google Doodles from Google search pages? I've tried extensions which only work for a couple of refreshes or new screens then the doodles come back. Of course I could use a Microsoft browser instead but short of that, is there a way to eliminate those doodles? Thanks.
I just noticed that Stephen Hawking, who was born Jan 8, 1942 and would have been 80 today,

Just opened some .xml file in which time is given as a 10 digit number starting with 1570. I assume it represents the number of seconds from some baseline date. Anyone know if this is it and if so, the baseline date?
Thanks.

Often when there is a business that I want to get consumer reviews on, there will be a poster/reviewer who adds a photo to their comments.
For example, a person might show how an Amazon order came damaged. Or, a person on Yelp! or Google Reviews may post a photo of food they ate, etc.

Hi. I want to look up the H index of a few authors I am interested in using google scholar or some other site that i don't need to pay for access. But can't see how to do it. Can anyone help?
