Griffith University is a public research university in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Formally founded in 1971, Griffith opened its doors in 1975, introducing Australia's first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies.
The university is named after Sir Samuel Walker Griffith, who was twice Premier of Queensland and the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. Sir Samuel Griffith played a major role in the Federation of Australia and was the principal author of the Australian constitution.
Opening initially with the one campus at Nathan and 451 students, the University now has five physical campuses spanning three cities, the largest of which are the Gold Coast campus at Southport and the Nathan campus in Brisbane. The Mount Gravatt and South Bank campuses are also located in Brisbane, while the Logan campus is at Meadowbrook. In 2018, the University launched its Digital campus, now its sixth campus, which offers a range of online degrees.Griffith has around 50,000 students and offers a full suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in the areas of business and government, criminology and law, education, engineering and information technology, environment, planning and architecture, health, humanities and languages, music, science and aviation, and visual and creative arts. It is a verdant university and a member of the IRU.
In the 2019 Student Experience Survey, Griffith University recorded the seventh highest student satisfaction rating out of all Australian universities, and the highest student satisfaction rating out of all public Queensland universities, with an overall satisfaction rating of 82.1. Since 2012, Griffith University has received more Australian Awards for University Teaching than any other Australian university. Griffith has many distinguished alumni and academic staff, including 2017 Australian of the Year Emeritus Professor Alan Mackay-Sim.
I'm currently studying Griffiths electrodynamics on my own and I want to be done with it once and for all. I however don't know if all the chapters are important for the rest of physics and which ones can be skipped without loss of continuity. Can someone give me some insight?
Hello,
I've been researching textbooks to use for my first-year E&M course and since I have no previous knowledge of E&M, I've been reading University Physics by Young et al. and Serway's book. I am pretty annoyed at the verbosity of the texts and the banal exercises where most exercises are...

Example 5.9 in Griffiths's Introduction to Electrodynamics 4th shows us how to find B of a very long solenoid, consisting of n closely wound turns per unit length on a cylinder of radius R, each carrying a steady current I. In the solution, he goes on to explain why we don't...
Homework Statement
ca(0)=1, cb(0)=0
zeroth: ca(t)=1, cb(t)=0
1st: ca(t)=1, cb(t)=i/hbar*integral(H'(t) exp(iwt)) dt
ca^2+cb^2=1 to 1st order of H'.: What does it mean?
it is evidently not 1 at all.
Homework EquationsThe Attempt at a Solution
Hi all, I'd like some assistance regarding some issues I have understanding such states. (Referencing Griffiths' QM)
1) Meaning of Bound and Scattering States.
The bound states I have studied thus far are limited to the infinite square well and the quantum harmonic oscillator. In the case of a...

Since the force acting on the bar is Magnetic force and magnetic force does no work, the speed of the bar will remain same i.e. v0.
Question (d) is not making sense to me.
I was solving the problems given by Griffith in his book 'Introduction to Electrodynamics' and stumbled across this question.
"Because sigma (conductivity of the medium) is a function of position, the equation 7.5 does not hold" --i get this point; current density isn't constant and so its...

In the books of electrodynamics by Griffith, He explain the physical view of the polarization inside of the dielectric matter. He try to make a picture polarized charge being offset near one.
However, I wonder how the chage can be offset with other molecular but not with own proton. Definitely...
Senior in Fall. Is a full course on vector analysis necessary: Stockes theorem, Green Theorem, differential forms, etc.
I feel like Griffith's Electrodynamics gives a sufficient overview of Vector analysis in Chapter 1 covering all you need. I've only taken the required Calc 1 - 3 sequence +...
I was reading in Griffit's "Introduction to Elementary Particles" when I stumbled over the following Remark in chapter 4.4.3.1. CP eigenstates are constructed by
|K_1> = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}(|K^0> - |\bar{K^0})
|K_2> = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}(|K^0> + |\bar{K^0})
and, assuming CP conservation...
I have a problem in the Griffith textbook (Introduction to Electrodynamics), Question 1.21, where it asks what is the meaning of the vector (A.∇)B, my simplistic approach would be to calculate the divergence of A which should be a scalar and multiply it out by Bx,By,Bz) to compute the x...
