Ok, so the Latin and Greek sections may be outdated, but everything else is still fair game for today. Brutal test.
Has anyone here ever been to Harvard university in Massachusetts? If you have, I have a few questions.
*Exactly how difficult is it to get accepted into Harvard?
*What are the minimum accepted GPA, and SAT/ACT requirements?
*How much is the tuition of a 4-year degree? And how much is the...
Harvard university is the single most prestigious college in the entire world. Only about 5% of applicants are accepted because it's requirements are so staggeringly high. Not to mention full time tuition can cost >$250,000 for a bachelors degree. And their graduate schools are even costlier...
I'm at a crossroads in my life now and I have the lucky dilemma of having to choose between Harvard and Stanford (which one should I take? :P) so...which one do I take? I'm planning to major in physics/astrophysics but I see both have are pretty strong with those fields. FA is amazing at both so...
Can anyone tell me about the quality of life as a grad student at Harvard and Stanford? I've been accepted to the PhD physics programs at both schools and have no idea which one to choose. Since both schools are excellent academically and I don't yet have a specific area I want to specialize...
Chinese Mothers Are Superior (in raising children to competitive Harvard applicants)
Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior
reading the article (I have not read the book)
it is clear that the whole point of piano lessons is to make their daughters look good for Harvard/Stanford/Ivy League...
Hi, I am hoping to get good marks in university and plan to give it my all in university then hopefully get into a good grad. school for physics, since to get a good job in research and in teaching you need a good school (to my knowledge). This got me searching, on the internet the best in the...
I'm aspiring to Math Grad School at Harvard, and I had a couple of questions.
Is it absolutely necessary to have a 4.0 overall GPA to get in or would they allow maybe one or two B+'s?
Which school has a better math grad school, UC Berkeley or Harvard?
I'm interested in applying to a top mathematics grad. school like Harvard, Chicago, or Princeton. I'm wondering what my chances are and I'm especially interested in what would happen in the following scenario:
I've taken only math courses my entired undergrad. education and I've taken grad...
I actually want to know, is it like four years of undergraduate mathematics crammed into one? Are there actually people who get like 4.0 GPAs in that course?
Does Harvard expect people with straight A's in every subject in academic (including history, English, etc.) and perfect 2400 on SAT for getting into Ph.D program in mathematics in Harvard, or they expect just average scores on other academic subjects and SAT, but perfect 800 on mathematics on...
Which other schools do not accept transfer students other than Harvard, or is it only Harvard that doesn't do this? If Harvard accepted transfer students would it over populate their school?
I'm just wondering, but if you are a good student at HYPMS or maybe even UPenn, is there a good chance of earning near 100K fresh out of college? Or is this just a big misconception that most ambitious high school students have?
Hey y'all:
This is a sort of follow up to the thread: 'New Yale Internet Physics resource'
In addition to PHYS 200 - Fundamentals of Physics, Fall 2006, they have put up the videos and materials for ASTR 160 - Frontiers and Controversies in Astrophysics, Spring 2007 at...
I haven’t been the best of students in school. When I say that I mean I have really bad grades my GPA is a bought a 62 now. I have recently be studying theoretical physics and astrophysics lately and I have found that it is something I want to do. I have taken IQ tests that consistently score me...
Just wanted to let everyone know that Harvard professor Shlomo Sternberg has posted some excellent material and books online. http://www.math.harvard.edu/people/SternbergShlomo.html
Enjoy!
I'm interested to hear from Grad Students at these schools about anything they wish they had known when they were applying. How competitive/compassionate are the students? How is the weather? Are people happy? Is the town in complete economic distress? Do you like the whole department, or...
I've got this 8 part lecture series titled "Cosmic Questions" and it is given by Robert Kirshner, Harvard professor. I can hardly handle listening to it, because every other word is uh. I've tried telling myself to just ignore the uhs, but the more I try to ignore them the more they stand out...
Hi all,
I'm a student from NZ, considering studying Physics for my Undergraduate course overseas, beginning September 2009. I know very little about the relative advantages and disadvantages of these three universities, and was hoping someone could provide a bit of general advice. I know...
I got accepted to Harvard
but I don't really know what kind of subject that I have to take to make my application for medical school looks superior.
Any advise?
I read the course syllabus' of MIT and Harvard universities and my university. There is no difference between assignements, labs, exams, etc between those 2 famous universities and my university.
Then why would someone say their graduates are better trained than me and/or graduates from...
