I'm taking driving lessons and can't keep track of the locations I drive around in, so I wish to record my GPS location on a map for later reviewing. What are some good iPhone apps that allow for GPS recording?
I've never had an iPhone but I'm not too fonda my Samsung so I will probably go for the iPhone 6 next year. Might even get a 5c in the meantime. I also own Apple stock so I am wondering about things.
I am expecting some nice things from Apple in the next year or two from an investors point...
I am trying to find the operating frequency for the iPhone 3, 4 & 5 touchscreen controller. Once I find these frequencies I would like to add filtering to my prototype so that these frequency do not interfere with the functionality of the capacitive LCD touch screen.
Check out Engineering Calculator for iPhone, iPad and iPod. A professional tool for native engineering calculations with units.
It also includes reference tables for structural engineers with elements that can be inserted in calculations.
So in my lab, I am working with fluorescent bacteria, specifically GFPa1 (green fluorescent protein a1) which are excited with around 500nm light and emit around 516 nm. Forgive me if these aren't correct, it isn't essential for this write-up and my notes aren't in front of me. Is there any way...
My laptop doesn't like public wifi for some reason but iphone has no problem connecting. Is there anyway to have my iphone become a hotspot with another wifi instead of 3g or 4g?
My iphone suddenly reset itself to factory settings for no apparent reason, and I lost everything I had on it.
Before I call Apple tech support, is there any advice you can give me?
Hello all. Brief disclaimer, I'm not exactly a luddite but I'm no programming wiz either so I can't talk about these issues on a very technical level. I can however follow directions, so if I have to do something on my end, I would be able to with some guidance.
Basically the problem I'm...
I am traveling back to Ghana in a week and would love to bring my phone and swap out the SIM card. I was wondering if anyone has purchased an unlock online? I watched a video of an unlock and it showed the person syncing with iTunes when done with the new carrier's SIM card inserted.
Does...
I am looking for an app on which to do "back of the envelope" type equation scribbles. I would be writing on a blank background with my finger. It would essentially just be a whiteboard on an iPhone. Nothing fancy - no need for sharing etc... In fact it might be better without fancy features...
Hello,
I live in the US and my dad lives in Paraguay. I am sending him an iPhone as a gift. If I buy a new iPhone 3gs (that's probably advanced enough for him) and send it to him, will it work with his carrier? All the carriers are GSM down there...
Does the phone need to be unlocked...
iPhone 4S comes with the latest Bluetooth Low Energy Module. By BLE Spec, the BLE module can be paired to more than multiple slaves/nodes simultaneously. I would like to know if 4S can be paired with multiple BLE enabled devices simultaneously?
I am not sure if I have posted my query under...
How accurate does the GPS on your phone tend to be? When I'm outside, under good conditions I can see impressive accuracy, especially considering the precision of the measurements. I walked to the left of a building this afternoon, out by the parking lot. The phone thought I was positioned...
Normal gloves won't activate the iphone touchscreen, but these iphone gloves do. I tried them a few days ago. I can't figure it out.

I don't know if this is the right place, but there is an iPhone app that uses black body radiation to measure temperature. Anyone who is into forging, or working with superheated ceramics would probably find this useful. It is called Thermal Light.
Many people use the iphone nowadays. But I wonder if they know exactly how it works?
I found a description of the technologically advanced iphone 4s camera features, and I curious as to how it works. The lines in red are what I found from the apple website.
The iPhone 4S camera gives you 8...
Hi all,
I've applied to several UROP (Undergrad Research Opportunity Program) projects and I've gotten accepted to four, and one of them involves designing iPhone apps.
The problem is... I've never programmed in Objective C, but I do know a fair amount of C++ (very basic OOP skills). Is...
Don't know if this have been posted here yet (anyway I don't see it on GD yet)
Anyway, this is pretty cool, even if it isn't a true representation of the guitar strings' motion. The "rolling shutter" effect in the iphone's camera can be used to pick up representations of the sounds being...
Are they going to shoot themselves into the foot by doing so ?

I've always wanted to put some Physics apps on my iPhone, but the ones I keep coming across are way too low-level; they seem geared to high school kids who are first encountering the material...
Any recommendations for apps that are more advanced?, like upper-division or graduate student level?
Hi, I have to find the best approach for tackling a problem for trying to recognize physical movements - with an iPhone in a pocket - like walking, stopping, turning left/right, sitting.
The ultimate goal is to recognize urban street behaviour, mostly regarding traffic lights: is it possible to...
Hello,
been lurking on the forum for a while and am very impressed with the knowledge of some the posters here.
Like I'm sure many others here do too, I own an iPhone 4 and a few days ago I accidentally dropped it with the result that the glass on the back side cracked. That made me think...
Hello there,
A friend of mine is developing an iphone app. that will have the ability of scanning a barcode(not using the camera to scan a barcode-like redlaser) that is displayed on your iphone using a barcode scanner at store points of sale(Cashiers). He is having trouble with the barcode...
I'm trying to understand why certain objects work (i.e. register a touch) on an iPhone screen, but others don't. From what I've read, the screen consists of two transparent conductive layers separated by an insulating layer. Furthermore, each layer is etched to form parallel electrodes, and the...
Hi guys, I just got an Iphone from my dad.
I am not a big fans of these sort of things, pretty much just a physics geek lol
Now I am thinking, besides I can watch some lecture videos or read some ebook from it,
is there any software(things like MatLab) about physics available on iphone...
I'm almost to timid to ask, I haven't had a math class in over 10 years and even longer for physics. My apologies if I dumb down the forum a little bit.
I'm grabbing accelerometer data out of the iPhone of someone doing a throwing motion. I'm not really sure if it is possible to get the...
I wanted to use the raw data from my iPhone accelerometer to track displacement. I downloaded an app called Accelerometer Data Pro. It is pretty fun. You slide a bar to start sampling, walk around the room, and then slide the same bar to stop sampling. The time series results can then be...
Hi All,
Thanks in Advance.Need help on maths related to angular motion. We have a device that returns the acceleration in ax,ay,az for motion along a curve.we are trying to calculate the
angle using these acceleration values and the radius (which is fix in our case).
Below is what we are...
The sad news is that the only other carrier it will work with is T-Mobile, which is on the same type of antiquated, slower than molasses network.
