The United States Marine Corps (USMC), also referred to as the United States Marines, is the maritime land force service branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for conducting expeditionary and amphibious operations through combined arms, implementing its own infantry, armor, artillery, aerial and special operations forces. The U.S. Marine Corps is one of the eight uniformed services of the United States.
The Marine Corps has been part of the U.S. Department of the Navy since 30 June 1834 with its sister service, the United States Navy. The USMC operates installations on land and aboard sea-going amphibious warfare ships around the world. Additionally, several of the Marines' tactical aviation squadrons, primarily Marine Fighter Attack squadrons, are also embedded in Navy carrier air wings and operate from the aircraft carriers. The history of the Marine Corps began when two battalions of Continental Marines were formed on 10 November 1775 in Philadelphia as a service branch of infantry troops capable of fighting both at sea and on shore. In the Pacific theater of World War II the Corps took the lead in a massive campaign of amphibious warfare, advancing from island to island. As of 2017, the USMC has around 182,000 active duty members and some 38,500 personnel in Reserve.
As the title states does anyone know if you can actually work as a marine biologist with a physics degree ? Or if there's some Masters degree that allows you to ?
I am in my 2nd year of a Physics degree by the way.
Good day
I hope someone can help. I am looking for marine propeller theory. Things like how do the diameter of a prop determine the speed of a vessel ? What effect does the blade angle or shape for that matter have on the functionality of the prop. If someone can help with the theory behind...
New finds from (aquatic) microbial cataloguing studies show that there's way more kinds of bacterial life in seawater than previously estimated.

4. In strong storms at sea, ships often alter their course for safety reasons. They will travel directly into the direction from which the waves and wind are coming (even if this is not the direction they intended to go in). Why do you think it would be safer to travel into the wind and seas...
I know marine creatures like crabs have 12 legs, 10 are small and 2 are very big. Do you know why they have small mouths ? do you know what food is for crabs ?
As a side note, I really wonder why human refuse under-water life and choose land life ? I guess perhaps because in water we hold our...
First of all this is for marine duty. Iam using a Gear which supplies the shaft flange good for shafts up to 4" in diameter but iam restricted to use a 4.5" shaft. In this case i have to design the flange .. iam struck here could anyone of you please guide me ..

Hey I'm hoping there are some people involved in marine acoustics here :)
I was hoping that someone here could maybe recommend some good books or sites that exaplain the use of transducers in Marine Acousitcs.
I just need to have an idea of what sort of transducer I'm looking at. The carrier...
I am working on a project involving electrically heating clayey soils (having 55% moisture content and 0.5 M salt (nacl/KCl) solutions in the pore space.
Does anybody know if electrolysis of water/electrolyte is a concern with AC currents (230 V, 60 Hz frequencies)?
Thanks,

Hi
I've been thinking about the way water flows around, or should I say up, along and down a displacement hull. This has lead me to a hull design idea based on the hull displacing water into a single wave as it passes. The cross section area at any point along the hull would be equal to the...
Col. Joe W. Dowdy, the officer in charge of the 1st Marine Regiment, one of the three major Marine Corps ground units fighting toward Baghdad has been removed by his superiors.
This seems odd to say the least. I wonder what the reasons are for relieving a commander in time of war.
