A term is a period of duration, time or occurrence, in relation to an event. To differentiate an interval or duration, common phrases are used to distinguish the observance of length are near-term or short-term, medium-term or mid-term and long-term.
It is also used as part of a calendar year, especially one of the three parts of an academic term and working year in the United Kingdom: Michaelmas term, Hilary term / Lent term or Trinity term / Easter term, the equivalent to the American semester. In America there is a midterm election held in the middle of the four-year presidential term, there are also academic midterm exams.
In economics, it is the period required for economic agents to reallocate resources, and generally reestablish equilibrium. The actual length of this period, usually numbered in years or decades, varies widely depending on circumstantial context. During the long term, all factors are variable as opposed to the short run during which at least one factor must be fixed.
In finance or financial operations of borrowing and investing, what is considered long-term is usually above 3 years, with medium-term usually between 1 and 3 years and short-term usually under 1 year. It is also used in some countries to indicate a fixed term investment such as a term deposit.
In law, the term of a contract is the duration for which it is to remain in effect (not to be confused with the meaning of "term" that denotes any provision of a contract). A fixed-term contract is one concluded for a pre-defined time, although it may also include provision for it to be extended. A contractor required to deliver against a term contract is often referred to as a "term contractor".
My professor has posted a sample midterm on her web site, but although she promised to post the solutions as well, she hasn't yet and I don't really expect her to at this point since the midterm is tomorrow. I have a few questions about some of the problems on the midterm. The sample exam can be...

Im wondering about applying trigonometry to physics. Using the tangent, sin, and cosine stuff. WHen looking at a vector that makes a right triangle, how do I know when to use tangent, sin, or cosine?
I know cosine relates to the X and Sine relates to the Y. But how do I...

I am working on my midterm project and I have two pieces I can't put together with php.
I am supposed to create a form that let's a user enter a keyword to search Amazon books, so I have the form that catches the data and gives it to the php file:

I am going to have an calculus exam on saturday. The topic is partial derivatives and double integrals. Does anybody know a website where I could find nice problems about these topics?
Thanks already...
I have a mid term tomorrow for my controls course. We have 514 pages of material with no formula sheet. We have to memorize everything, including some derivations and Matlab code.
After this mid term were only doing 2 other chapters. This isn't a mid term, its a damn final exam!

I'm so screwed now.
I can barely think hard enough to do my Topology assignment and that's my strongest class. Not to mention a Probability midterm tomorrow that I was on my way to being prepared. :cry:
I hope I pass the midterm. :cry:
I'm so useless right now.

Consider a DE
dy/dx = f(x,y)
Suppose that all the scaling transformations Tt, t not equal to 0, are symmetries of the DE. Show that the value of f(x,y) only depends on the ratio y/x, by showing that:
f(x,y) = f(1, y/x)
I think I have a rough idea of how to do this, my professor did...
Ok, i need an easy way to remember all the trig derivatives. that's reiprical trig, and all the inverses of them aswell.
Is there some easy way where i only have to remember a few of them, and i can just figure out the rest from that?
thanks
I just took my Physics Midterm and there was one problem on the test that I had no clue on and just left blank. Here's the problem:

Midterm Practice: Could someone verify my proof

What is the last digit of 2222^{50}~+~7777^{16}?
I know how to do these kinds of questions, but this time around I decided to try mod 11. Is there a reason why mod 11 does not work in this case?
2222 \equiv 0~(mod~11)
Therefore, 2222^{50} \equiv 0^{50} (mod 11), that is
2222^{50} \equiv...
So i have a midterm tomorrow in E&M and I'm not well prepared at all. The whole class is pretty much already prepared to fail... so I'm not alone in that at least. Basically, i have one more day (tomorrow) to study, so i best make the best of it. We get to bring index card "cheat sheets" that...
I have not gone to my math class in 3 weeks. Just got out of the midterm, professor handed out answer sheets. I passed with flying colors. This should not be possible. Between this midterm and the last one i have not gone to class once, and i spent about an hour reviewing last night. Really...

Tomorrow is my first physics midterm for college. I got a 5 on the AP Physics B test, but I've never taken physics in college yet. There's hardly any calculus, so its basically AP Physics B. Does anyone know where to get sample midterms or can anyone give me some challenging practise problems...
1) 1 Cu2O(s)+ (1/2)O2(g) -> 2CuO(s) Change in H = -144 kj
2 Cu2O(s) -> Cu(s) + CuO(s) Change in H = +11
Calculate the standard enthalpy of formation of CuO
This is what i did, i reversed the 2nd equation so i get Cu(s) + CuO(s) -> Cu2O(s) by applying hess law, and Change in H becomes -11...
