The ohm (symbol: Ω) is the SI derived unit of electrical resistance, named after German physicist Georg Ohm. Various empirically derived standard units for electrical resistance were developed in connection with early telegraphy practice, and the British Association for the Advancement of Science proposed a unit derived from existing units of mass, length and time, and of a convenient scale for practical work as early as 1861. As of 2020, the definition of the ohm is expressed in terms of the quantum Hall effect.
Probably a simple question for electrical people, to which I never picked up the answer in my studies. I know I'm missing something simple, or just thinking about it the wrong way.
A transformer increases voltage, and decreases current. And yet...Ohms law states that higher voltage results...
I am trying to determine ohms and wattage of R2 on attached schematic.
The resistor fried so I can't tell anything about it
This circuit is a recharger for a cordless black and decker drill

So what produces a solenoid's magnetic field? Voltage or Power?
Voltage = Current * Resistance
Power = Current^2 * Resistance
Magnetic field magnitude of a solenoid = magnetic constant * turns * current
We can quadruple the turns using the four times of the same type of wire, but that will...

Calculate the equivalent resistance of the network shown in the diagram. The resistances are: R1 = 12 ohm, R2 = 5 ohm, R3 = 15 ohm, and R4 = 15 ohm.
no prob here
Req = [(1/12)+(1/5)+(1/15)]^-1 + 15 = 17.86ohm

Alright, I'm a student and doing a science fair experiment for a little extra credit. Here's the link to where I found it online. http://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentoring/project_ideas/Elec_p019.shtml?from=Home
I don't get it, at all. I just tried it and every time I measured it the Ohms...
I have this problem I just can't figure out.
Current = A (Ampere)
i(t)=z(e^t/(RC))
where z is the initial current at t=0, R is the resistance in Ohms and C is the capacitance expressed in secondary units as F (Farad)
- Express the units of F in terms of seconds and ohms
So, this...
I have looked thought all my notes and books and can not find the formal on how to do this question. I'm slowly going out of my mind any help would be great

"Iron core energy change" and "transformers vs. ohms law"
Ooh yes, I do have two question. So enjoy the meal all physics lovers! :smile:
1. If the field is increased putting an iron core inside the circuit, then what about energy conservation? (I don't know much about H-fields.)
