Parallel universes Definition and 48 Threads

Parallel universe, also known as a parallel dimension, alternate universe, or alternate reality, is a hypothetical self-contained plane of existence, co-existing with one's own. The sum of all potential parallel universes that constitute reality is often called a "multiverse".
While the three terms are generally synonymous and can be used interchangeably in most cases, there is sometimes an additional connotation implied with the term "alternate universe/reality" that implies that the reality is a variant of our own, with some overlap with the similarly-named alternate history. The term "parallel universe" is more general, without implying a relationship, or lack of relationship, with our own universe. A universe where the very laws of nature are different – for example, one in which there are no Laws of Motion – would in general count as a parallel universe but not an alternative reality and a concept between both fantasy world and Earth.

Parallel Universes: Multiverse vs Many Worlds - Splits?

Hi, sorry - forgive me for posting (I am not much of a science guy but I am still interested). I am just watching a documentary (I know not a great source for scientific information - but it got me thinking). In the documentary it talks about the many worlds theory (which I believe is different...

B In parallel universes, everything that can happen happens, but why?

Hello, on quantum theory of parallel universes. It seems quite ridiculous to me, in quantum mechanics everything, that's not forbiden by rules happes. Are there some theories why it may be ? Or is it to early to even speculate about that. Elon musk said, that there is chance bilion to one, that...

    Multiverse theory and Dark Matter

As you might know there is no such thing as true randomness, which means everything happens for a reason. Hi there! Alright, so let me start off by saying I'm a biochemist by trade, but have an extreme (and possibly unhealthy) interest in the more bizarre aspects of modern physics. Keep in mind this is completely a theoretical question... In the end I know nothing about physics. I just have a question. Um ... yea. This was on my mind for a long time and was bugging me like hell , so I want to share it and ask if its correct or could be correct . Infinite Universe and Parallel Universes

If we suppose universe is infinite than there will be no parallel universes. So I know that If ##Ω_k##→Universe will be infinite. Then there will be no parallel universes cause there's one universe. I am confused. Is that mean the parallel universe idea is wrong ?
