Slider Definition and 58 Threads

The red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans), also known as the red-eared terrapin, red-eared slider turtle, red-eared turtle, slider turtle, and water slider turtle, is a semiaquatic turtle belonging to the family Emydidae. It is a subspecies of the pond slider. It is the most popular pet turtle in the United States and is also popular as a pet across the rest of the world, and is the most invasive turtle. Because of this, it is the most commonly traded species of turtle in the world.Red-eared sliders are native to the Southern United States and northern Mexico, but have become established in other places because of pet releases, and have become an invasive species in many areas where they outcompete native species. The red-eared slider is included in the list of the world's 100 most invasive species published by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

Inertial forces in crank slider mechanism

I was little confused about taking inertial forces into significance while calculating piston effort in a piston crank slider arrangement. I read an analysis of various forces acting in a piston cylinder arrangement in a book yersterday, and while calculating piston effort(net force on piston...

Magnetic Forces acting upon a slider on rails

A 0.40kg metal slider is sitting on smooth (frictionless) conducting rails as shown below. What is the magnitude and direction of the acceleration of the slider? Given, B = 3.0T I = 5.0A m = 0.40kg R = either 0.1m or 0.05m, I am not sure if you half it because...

Solving Slider Crank Problem: Tips & Advice

I'm having trouble figuring out this problem. I know how to solve the problem if the angular velocity was known but there seem to be too many unknowns to be able to generate graphs. If anyone can offer advice that would be great.

Flyball governor and force on slider

http://www.mech.uq.edu.au/courses/mech2210/yat/q/governor.jpg A flyball governor is a device used to regulate the speed of steam turbines in steam power plants. The rotation of the shaft causes the two balls move outward. As the balls move out, they pull on the bearing A. The position of the...

Solve Rod Slider Energy Problem: Find Velocities of Collar B

Homework Statement Collar B has a mass of 4 kg and is attached to a spring of constant 1500 N/m and of undeformed length 0.4 m. The system is set in motion with r = 0.2 m, v_theta = 6 m/s, and v_r = 0. Neglecting the mass of the rod and the effect of friction, determine the radial and...
