In summary, the conversation revolved around the discovery of mushrooms growing in the backyard, with one person having a large puff ball mushroom and the other having a neighbor with a large, vomit-like mushroom. There was discussion about the size and appearance of the mushrooms, and a humorous exchange about eating the mushroom for money. The conversation ended with a suggestion to take a picture of the mushroom after running it over with a lawn mower.

in my backyard, there about 100 mushrooms growing in the lawn. they seem to just disapprear and reappear. my neighbor used to have (not kidding) about 100 within about 20 sq. feet of space. one of them looked like someone threw up on the grass, just a large brown mass

FAQ: 100 mushrooms growing in the lawn

What are the possible reasons for mushrooms growing in the lawn?

Mushrooms typically grow in areas with high moisture and organic matter, so the presence of decaying plant material or a nearby water source could be a reason for their growth in the lawn.

Are the mushrooms harmful to the lawn or humans?

Most mushrooms found in lawns are not harmful to the lawn itself, but some species can be toxic to humans and pets if ingested. It is best to avoid consuming any mushrooms found in the lawn.

How can I remove the mushrooms from my lawn?

The best way to remove mushrooms from the lawn is to simply pick them by hand or use a rake to remove them. Avoid using chemicals as they can harm beneficial organisms in the soil.

Will the mushrooms come back after removing them?

Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of underground fungi, so even if you remove them, the fungi may still be present in the soil. They may continue to produce mushrooms under the right conditions.

Can I prevent mushrooms from growing in my lawn?

Preventing mushrooms from growing in the lawn can be difficult, but you can reduce the chances by improving drainage, aerating the soil, and removing any decaying material. You can also try to keep the lawn well-maintained and avoid overwatering.
