Hello all,

Long time lurker of PGRE applicants here. Roughly ten years ago, I started my academic journey humbly at a local community college. I was a horrible student in high school who never did homework or never found interest in academics. In fact, I nearly flunked out.

At the beginning of college I was also a bad student but then progressively became better and I started to gain interest in math and physics. A few years later, I transferred to my flagship university (pretty good public school, good physics rep) and had a mediocre start. I had poor preparation from my community college, an absent support system, a destructive mindset, and nonexistent study habits.

After a few years, I also flunked out again. Fast forward another six or so years, I enroll in a flagship university in a different state. At this point in time, through life's challenges in the previous years, my mindset grew significantly. I have been doing well at my present university. I am majoring in math and physics and have been very involved in research. I'm looking to apply to graduate school soon as my senior year is approaching and I could really use some guidance!

Thank you guys in advance! For context, my parents are immigrants from a developing country and I am a first generation student.

Although I don’t yet have full mastery of mathematical formulas or physical laws, my passion for learning constantly drives me to explore and understand more. No matter how complex the world of science may be, my...
