Ahmadinejad's Denial of 9/11 Attack: Disinformation for Political Gain?

In summary, Iranian President Ahmadinejad has claimed that the 9/11 terrorist attack was a "big lie" created to justify fighting terrorism and sending troops to Afghanistan. Many people, including those sympathetic to Islamic extremist groups and some US citizens and politicians, already believe this idea. However, it is likely that Ahmadinejad is using this misinformation for his own political gain.

The bombing of the world trade center was also a "big lie intended to serve as a pretext for fighting terrorism and setting the grounds for sending troops to Afghanistan," Ahmadinejad as said...

Sadly, he is only saying aloud what many self-proclaimed enemies of the US, and people sympathetic to the cause of Islamic extremist groups, already believe.

Hey guess what, it is for publicity. The more outrageous he is, the more media coverage he gets and the stronger his regime becomes.

He's not stupid. Yet if he can use misinformation to his advantage, then that's what he will always do.

Sorry folks. You can't see the deleted posts, but this thread predictably went rignt into the conspiracy zone. The idea was to promote a credible discussion of how disinformation is being used by Ahmadinejad for a political agenda, but there was really no hope of that happening, I suppose.

FAQ: Ahmadinejad's Denial of 9/11 Attack: Disinformation for Political Gain?

1. What evidence does Ahmadinejad use to deny the 9/11 attack?

Ahmadinejad has stated that the evidence provided by the US government is not sufficient to prove that the 9/11 attack was carried out by terrorists. He also argues that the US government has not provided any concrete evidence linking the attacks to Al-Qaeda or Osama bin Laden.

2. Why does Ahmadinejad believe the US government might be responsible for the 9/11 attack?

Ahmadinejad has suggested that the US government may have been involved in the 9/11 attack as a way to justify their military interventions in the Middle East and to gain control of the region's oil reserves. He also believes that the US government uses the attack as a pretext to restrict civil liberties and invade other countries.

3. How have other countries responded to Ahmadinejad's denial of the 9/11 attack?

Many countries, including the US, have strongly condemned Ahmadinejad's statements and have dismissed them as conspiracy theories. The 9/11 Commission report, which was a thorough investigation into the attacks, found no evidence to support Ahmadinejad's claims.

4. What impact has Ahmadinejad's denial of the 9/11 attack had on international relations?

Ahmadinejad's denial of the 9/11 attack has strained relations between Iran and the US, as well as other Western countries. It has also fueled anti-American sentiments in the Middle East and has made it difficult for the US and Iran to cooperate on issues such as nuclear proliferation.

5. Is there any truth to Ahmadinejad's claims about the 9/11 attack?

There is no credible evidence to support Ahmadinejad's claims about the 9/11 attack. The overwhelming majority of experts and governments agree that the attack was carried out by Al-Qaeda and that there is no reason to doubt the official narrative. Additionally, Ahmadinejad's own government has distanced itself from his statements and has not officially endorsed them.
