Pages are in excellent condition, lettering on cover is faded, name and date purchased written inside front cover (20 Aug 1974). These books convinced me that I could make a telescope, but that it was a larger task than I really wanted to tackle. Make an offer, preferably enough to at least cover postage.

My brother used these books to build a 6 inch telescope when he was in high school. Purpose built for solar eclipse photos, I think it was f5.

Just FYI, Amazon is now selling this set (used) for $87.50 so asking for "best offer" is pretty generous.

OR, you could get them for $123 from this outfit

That's bizarre, it's only 55 dollars for me!
There's also 1 in stock at that price, so that's more like a price that nobody has bothered thinking it's worth paying for. It doesn't necessarily tell you what the book is actually worth

I'll be hornswaggled. I'm pretty sure it was $87.50 when I looked but it clearly isn't now. Good catch.

Correct. The amount anything is worth is exactly what you can get someone to pay for it, no more, no less.

And, judging by the lack of response, my books are worth less than the cost of shipping.

BTW, I got a copy of A Brief History of Time last week for free in excellent condition. I found it at the local dump. I'm halfway through it.

Clearly, we need an emoji for bad puns. Something like a person running away screaming while holding their nose (bad puns are stinkers).
