Are My Quantum Physics Assumptions and Theories Flawed? Seeking Expert Feedback

  • Thread starter Jsauce
  • Start date
In summary, there is ongoing debate and discussion among experts in the field of quantum physics about the validity and accuracy of current assumptions and theories. Some argue that there are flaws and limitations in our understanding of quantum mechanics, while others believe that further exploration and research is needed to fully grasp the complexities of this field. Seeking expert feedback and collaboration is crucial in advancing our understanding and potentially uncovering new breakthroughs in quantum physics.

How did you find PF?
Google Search for Quantum Physics forums that I might be able to ask questions on
Hello, I have been looking for someplace that can tell me I am hopelessly wrong in assumptions or theories so that I can go take a nap and not buy more magnetic wire, linear polarizers or lasers. I feel like I have learned enough to know when YouTube videos “explaining” basic concepts don’t seem to know what they are talking about.

Reproducing 2 slit experiment, and throwing my hands up and saying “wow cool wave-particle duality” is not where I want to stop learning. I have plenty of assumptions and theories I want to have questioned.

Welcome to PhysicsForums.

Be sure to read through some threads in the subjects you are interested about before asking questions. You will find that what you have learned on YouTube and through PopSci sources is mostly wrong and/or outdated. Please also have a look at our rules (see INFO at the top of the page) -- we don't allow personal speculation or personal theories. We DO encourage questions about the mainstream scientific literature, as published in peer-reviewed journals and mainstream textbooks.

It's always best to include links in your thread starts to show what you've been reading (not PopSci links), and mark your thread start with the level at which you would like to discuss the subject (B=Beginner/High School, I=Intermediate/Undergraduate, A=Advanced/Graduate School).

Enjoy PF!

I hope I do enjoy it, though attempting to find threads that aren’t locked on specific subjects is daunting.

Older threads (over a few years old) are often locked because of their age and because our PF rules have been updated and the older threads may not comply with them. Newer threads that are locked will generally have an explanatory post at the end that explains the reason (like some rules violation or something, or an Original Poster (OP) who is not listening to the helpful replies that they are getting).

If you see a thread that is locked and it's not obvious why, please feel free to send me a Private Message (PM) by clicking on my avatar and "Start a conversation". I'll look into it for you.

Also, if it seems like it's mostly threads on a subject or two that you are interested in, there may be a reason for the locks (the subject has a fundamental issue). Also feel free to PM me with the subjects that you'd like to find threads on, and I'll do my best to help.
