Atom Simulator: Kids Create Compounds & Play

In summary, "Atom Simulator: Kids Create Compounds & Play" is an educational software suitable for children ages 8 to 12 years old. It teaches about atoms, compounds, the periodic table, and chemical reactions through interactive simulations and games. The software aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards and is completely safe for children to use with adult supervision recommended for younger children.

Are there any good atom simulators where kids can bash some atoms around on screen using all the measured real world numbers, so bringing reactive elements together would create compounds but something that wasn't staged or pre-animated. something with more of a constructive 'do-anything' on the atom scale game?

The Molecular Workbench software

I think the Molecular Workbench may be what you are looking for. The software provides a virtual lab environment in which you can create molecular dynamics models and run them immediately. The whole simulation environment is embedded in a word processor that allows you to create web-page-like documents and share with other people.

Related to Atom Simulator: Kids Create Compounds & Play

1. What is "Atom Simulator: Kids Create Compounds & Play"?

"Atom Simulator: Kids Create Compounds & Play" is an educational software that allows kids to learn about atoms and compounds through interactive simulations and games.

2. What age range is this software suitable for?

This software is suitable for children ages 8 to 12 years old. However, it can also be used by older children or adults who are interested in learning about atoms and compounds.

3. What can children learn from using this software?

Children can learn about the basic structure of atoms, the periodic table of elements, how atoms combine to form compounds, and the properties of different compounds. They can also learn about the chemical reactions that occur when compounds are formed or broken down.

4. Is this software based on any specific curriculum or standards?

This software is designed to align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for elementary and middle school students. It covers topics such as structure and properties of matter, chemical reactions, and the periodic table of elements.

5. Are there any safety concerns when using this software?

No, this software is completely safe for children to use. It does not involve any physical or chemical experiments, and all interactions with atoms and compounds are simulated on the computer. However, we recommend adult supervision for younger children to ensure they are using the software appropriately.
