Build a Vortex Air Ring Shooter with 32 Gallon Bin

In summary, the conversation revolves around creating a vortex air ring shooter using only air and a 32 gallon bin. The individual is seeking advice on how to make the vortex ring travel the furthest and questions whether a bungee cord or a different type of bag would be better. They also ask about the size of the hole in the bin for optimal distance. The conversation concludes with a suggestion to consider the characteristics of the trash bag and experimenting with different approaches.

Physics: Vortex air ring shooter?
Using air only & a PUSH or a PULL with a 32 GALLON bin how do i make a vortex ring that
travels Furthest?

- Whats better than a regular plastic trash Bag?

- Use a bungee cord?

- How big does the hole in the 32 Gallon Bin have to be in order to shoot reach furthest?

Here are some videos, but it doesn't seem to go that far:

PLEASE HELP!

Why don't you consider the characteristics of the trash bag - why is it good and how could it be improved?

Perhaps you can use this approach with each item and test your conclusions?

Related to Build a Vortex Air Ring Shooter with 32 Gallon Bin

1. How does a vortex air ring shooter work?

A vortex air ring shooter works by using air pressure to create a vortex or spinning motion in a column of air. The force of the spinning air creates a ring that can be shot out of the shooter.

2. What materials are needed to build a vortex air ring shooter with a 32 gallon bin?

To build a vortex air ring shooter with a 32 gallon bin, you will need a 32 gallon bin, a leaf blower or other powerful fan, PVC pipes and fittings, a drill, and duct tape.

3. How do you assemble a vortex air ring shooter?

To assemble a vortex air ring shooter, you will need to cut the PVC pipes to desired lengths and attach them together with fittings using duct tape. Then, attach the leaf blower or fan to the bottom of the bin and secure it with duct tape. Finally, insert the PVC pipe assembly into the bin and secure it in place with duct tape.

4. What is the purpose of a 32 gallon bin in a vortex air ring shooter?

The 32 gallon bin serves as the main body of the vortex air ring shooter and provides a sturdy structure for the PVC pipes and fan to be attached to. It also helps to contain the air and direct it towards the shooter.

5. Can a vortex air ring shooter be used for any other purposes?

While a vortex air ring shooter is primarily used for fun and entertainment, it can also be used in educational settings for experiments and demonstrations involving air pressure, fluid dynamics, and motion. It can also be modified for other purposes such as blowing bubbles or creating smoke rings.
