Hi there,

Has anybody tried making money in the past using Adwords and Adsense or have tried to make some extra cash using an affiliate program.

How did you get on? What sites did you pick? What are the benefits and pitfalls of making money this way.

Please reply with your ideas.

I recently signed up with Skype/Commission Junction and Site Ground. Both were easy to set up but I haven't been paid yet.

I have other private affiliate arrangements with personal/business associates that work VERY well.

A few years back my nephew sold folder and resume covers. He used a google ad -word. Every time someone googled a term that had cover in it his ad popped up. Other than some sign up fees he only had to pay according to the number of hits his ad got.

He did make money, but not as much as he had expected.

It can be risky. Choose the ad-word very carefully.

As I said this was probably five years ago and a lot has changed. Ad-words are now everywhere.

FAQ: Can You Really Make Money with AdWords and Affiliate Programs?

What is the difference between affiliate programs and Adwords?

Affiliate programs and Adwords are two different online marketing strategies. Affiliate programs involve promoting a product or service for a commission, while Adwords is a pay-per-click advertising platform run by Google. In affiliate programs, the marketer earns a commission when a sale is made, whereas in Adwords, the advertiser pays for each click on their ad.

Can I use Adwords to promote my affiliate links?

No, Google does not allow the use of Adwords to promote affiliate links. This is because affiliate links often lead to low-quality landing pages and can result in a poor user experience. Adwords policies require that the landing page of an ad must provide substantial and original content.

How do I choose the right affiliate program for me?

There are a few things to consider when choosing an affiliate program. First, make sure the products or services being offered align with your niche or target audience. It's also important to research the commission rates and payment methods of different programs. Additionally, look for programs with a good reputation and track record of timely payments.

Are there any risks involved in participating in affiliate programs?

While affiliate programs can be a great way to earn passive income, there are some risks involved. For example, if the company you are promoting goes bankrupt or stops paying commissions, you may lose out on your earnings. It's important to do your research and choose reputable and stable programs to minimize these risks.

How can I track the success of my affiliate program and Adwords campaigns?

Both affiliate programs and Adwords have built-in tracking and reporting tools that allow you to monitor the success of your campaigns. In affiliate programs, you can track your clicks, conversions, and earnings through your affiliate dashboard. Adwords has a similar system where you can track clicks, impressions, and conversions. It's important to regularly review these metrics to optimize your strategies and make any necessary adjustments.
