Hi, this is my Exam 2 for my Classical Field Theory course, along with my solutions.
The first problem deals with the Chern-Simons theory in electromagnetism. I found several articles discussing this equation, but the solution I derived for part 4 seems very similar to the classical theory.
The second problem involves Noether's theorem in 1D. I spent a lot of time thinking about the second transformation. In 2D, this corresponds to a spatial rotation, where the Noether charge is the angular momentum. However, in 1D, the Noether charge includes a term involving velocity and the potential multiplied by time, as well as a term combining position and velocity.
Any comments?
