Collection of Free Online Physics Books and Lecture Notes (Part 2)

In summary, this is part 2 of a thread that collects free online math books and lecture notes. It focuses on physics and mathematical methods for physics resources. The thread is a work in progress and welcomes feedback on what should be included or if any links are broken. The resources cover subjects such as introductory college/university physics, mathematical physics, analytical mechanics, thermodynamics/statistical physics/statistical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, special and general relativity, quantum field theory, elementary particle physics, conformal field theory, string theory, and astrophysics and cosmology. Some notable authors and their lecture notes are also mentioned.

Yeah I know, I have it in my to-do list to go over it - since many links are broken as of today.

Mathematics for theoretical physics, Dutailly
https://arxiv.org/abs/1209.5665

The only math-for-physics book I am aware that starts with Foundations (Logic, Set Theory and Categories).

Unfortunately it doesn't have the table of contents, so I downloaded the LaTeX source and added the table of contents, and also made the letters bigger and margins smaller. The result is attached.

Looks interesting, but why does it start with special relativity?
The text deals with nuclear reactions, such as beta decay where the emitted electrons have relativistic speeds

But this is only a small part of the book, so it's not that special relativity is needed for most of the book. Usually one starts with a chapter that is a prerequisite for most of the rest of the book. It would make more sense to put special relativity into an appendix.

I totally agree, but I am not the author.
What about spin?

Book treats relativistic dirac equation too.

This book also evolved to include a lot of additional material that I thought would be appropriate for a physically-literate engineer. There are chapters on relativity, numerical methods, thermodynamics, solid mechanics, electromagnetism, and nuclei.

Perhaps the author should consider chaning the title of the text instead ;)
