Determination: Check Direction:?
First and foremost, hello everyone.
I need some advice and some general academic guidance.
Im 22 and an electrical engineer but to be quite frank it bores the hell out of me, i sort of "fell" into the job straight from school and in all fairness its a decent career, but I am factory based being in a maintenance role and no way can i see myself doing it for my entire working life. Theres just too much out there I am missing.
Now i love physics, i spend my spare time at work (and at home) reading every article on sciencedaily, hubblesite, spitzer LHC EMMA sky at night and so on and so on, and now I am starting to think I've been missing the wood for the trees so to speak.
Im most interested in astrophysics, anything to do with redshift expanding universes masses distances temperatures the list goes on, but basically I am fascinated by what's out there and genuinely think i could have a lifetime career in this field.
My big problem is I haven't got a clue where to start, and secondly if i put my heart and sould into studying this is there a job out there for me? I can imagine there being more people than jobs (I may be completely wrong here).
Any advice would be greatley appreciated, and be honest, if you think i should just stick with what I am doing tell me.
Cheers everyone, Chris
