Discover Related Tags for Efficient Tag Searches

In summary, the conversation suggests the need for a list of related tags to be displayed on the results page when doing a tag search in order to narrow down the search. The ability to view the tags of each thread and have them hyperlinked is also suggested. It is mentioned that being a gold member is required for boolean tag searches. The idea of having a tag cloud to help with choosing related tags is also brought up. The difficulty of implementing this feature is acknowledged.

when doing a tag seach it would be convenient to see a list of all the ('related') tags that the search results pages are tagged with so one can narrow down ones search.

BTW, do I have to be a member to be able to do boolean tag searches?

On the results page, are you suggesting we make the little tag icon that shows the rest of the tags for that thread hyperlinked?

and yes you need to e a gold member for boolean searches

lets say I go here:
https://www.physicsforums.com/tags.php
there is a tag cloud that helps me to choose a tag to search for.
lets say I do a seach for charge. I get a page with links to about 30 threads. I decide that I want to narrow down my search. but I'm not sure exactly what tag to use to do that. on the orginal there was a tag cloud to help me but now there isnt. it would be nice if I could take all threads that are tagged 'charge' and see what other tags they are tagged with. maybe not all of them. maybe just the most common ones. in other words, tags related to the tag 'charge'.

i have no idea how hard that would be to do. maybe its just wishful thinking. but I figure it never hurts to ask.

How do related tags help with efficient tag searches?

Related tags help with efficient tag searches by expanding the scope of the search and providing more targeted results. By including related tags, the search engine can retrieve a wider range of content that is relevant to the original search term.

Can related tags be used in all types of searches?

Yes, related tags can be used in all types of searches, including text-based searches and image searches. Adding related tags can help users find more specific and relevant results in any type of search.

Are related tags automatically generated or manually added?

Related tags can be generated automatically by using algorithms that analyze the content and context of a search term. They can also be manually added by users or content creators to further refine the search results.

How can using related tags improve the user experience?

Using related tags can improve the user experience by making it easier and more efficient to find relevant content. By providing more specific and targeted results, users can save time and effort in their search process, leading to a more positive experience overall.
