Does air temperature affect air resistance?

In summary, the conversation discusses the effect of air temperature on air resistance and how it relates to the velocity of two balls dropped at the same time. The conversation also includes links to equations for air resistance and density, and concludes that the ball with a temperature of 60C will reach first due to the increase in velocity caused by the increase in temperature.

Does air temperature affect air resistance?

you have two similar balls, you failed them at the same time in two plate, one of them with 60Co and the other with 30Co, which one will reach first?

What do you think?

at the same time?

Why do you say that?

Think about equations for air density and air resistance.

  • #5
when temperature is low the density is high
but what about air resistance?
please
explain the answer directly without ask me another questions?

thanks for ur helping
from equations, the velocity of the object increase when temperature increase
so, ball 1 "60C" reach before ball 2 "30C"
is that true?

FAQ: Does air temperature affect air resistance?

How does air temperature affect air resistance?

The air temperature affects air resistance by changing the density of the air. As temperature increases, air molecules spread out and become less dense, resulting in less air resistance. On the other hand, colder temperatures create denser air, which increases air resistance.

Does air resistance increase or decrease with temperature?

Air resistance decreases with increasing temperature due to the decrease in air density. This is why objects tend to move more easily through the air on hot days compared to cold days.

What is the relationship between air temperature and air resistance?

The relationship between air temperature and air resistance is inverse. As temperature increases, air resistance decreases, and vice versa. This is because air resistance is directly affected by air density, which is determined by temperature.

How does air temperature affect the flight of airplanes?

Air temperature can affect the flight of airplanes as it impacts air density and, therefore, air resistance. Hotter temperatures result in less air resistance, allowing airplanes to fly more easily and efficiently. However, extreme temperatures can also affect the performance of an airplane's engines and other components.

Can air temperature affect the speed of objects moving through the air?

Yes, air temperature can affect the speed of objects moving through the air. Higher temperatures result in lower air resistance, allowing objects to move faster. This is why sprinters often perform better in warmer weather compared to colder temperatures.
