In working with chilled water system, why do we install "double regulating valve" and "2 way valve" when connecting the pipe to the AHU ?
Lets start with: the pipe to the AHU:i don't know what each does...
Double regulating valves and 2-way valves are used to regulate the flow of chilled water in a system. They help to maintain a consistent and desired temperature throughout the system by controlling the amount of chilled water that enters each zone or area. This also helps to prevent overcooling or undercooling in certain areas.
Double regulating valves work by using a damper or disc to regulate the flow of water through the valve. This damper can be manually adjusted to control the flow rate. 2-way valves, on the other hand, work by opening and closing to allow or restrict the flow of water. Both types of valves can be controlled by a thermostat or other control system to maintain the desired temperature.
Installing these valves can help to improve the efficiency and performance of a chilled water system. By regulating the flow of water, they can help to reduce energy consumption and operating costs. They also help to ensure that each area of a building is properly cooled, leading to increased comfort for occupants.
One potential drawback is that these valves require regular maintenance to ensure they are functioning properly. If not maintained, they can become stuck or fail to regulate the flow of water correctly. Additionally, they may not be suitable for all types of chilled water systems, so it is important to consult with a professional before installation.
Yes, there are other types of valves that can be used in chilled water systems, such as 3-way valves and balancing valves. However, double regulating valves and 2-way valves are specifically designed for regulating the flow of chilled water and are often the preferred choice for this purpose. It is important to consult with a professional to determine the best option for your specific system and needs.
