In summary, spectrometers are valuable tools for scientists to analyze the composition and properties of various substances. They use various techniques such as absorption, emission, and mass spectrometry to provide detailed information about the elements and molecules present in a sample. Spectrometers are widely used in fields such as chemistry, biology, and astronomy, and continue to advance with new technologies and applications. They are essential resources for researchers seeking to understand the fundamental building blocks of our world.

Hi,

I'm Jim, I'm a physicist and engineer in the UK. I've just started a new job in R&D, developing spectrometers so I'm having to brush up (hard) on various topics I studied as an undergraduate, which is the main reason I'm here.

Welcome Jim. You might find this thread entertaining/enlightening:

Also if you click on the 3 bars at the top right of the screen and search for spectrometer, you will find a quite a variety of them.

Cheers,
Tom
