where do the electrons go??

Hello!

I am a non-physics person looking for some laymens answers please! I came across the idea of multi-dimensions co-existing; electrons bounce in an 'out' of existence...or out of a measurable place. Could you point me to a simple book/website/keyterms to help me along with my quest of knowledge?!

I read a lot of great answers to other questions from a warren and am hoping for some of those!

You are not talking about "Many world interpretation" of quantum mechanics?

I'm not familiar with that. It may be just the terminology. Can you elaborate? Perhaps mention where you read this?

I have no clue what I am talking about - Just looking for more info on the idea that electrons spend time in an 'undetectable' place an they cannot be measured there...

I don't know all your jargon...just familier with the basics high school: protons/electrons etc.

Would this be considered quantum entanglement or interaction between positrons / electrons?

Perhaps electron tunneling. An electron has to cross an energy barrier to escape an atom. But the electron does not so much move there as it does simply appear there. The electron is defined not so much with a position as with a probaility cloud. At any given time, it has a non-zero probability of being outside the energy barrier, though it has never passed through it.

(Bah, my words fail me, I'm in a hurry. Perhaps someone could explain it better.)

I’m sure you have been looking at a “Many world interpretation" (MWI) of quantum mechanics; A legit scientific idea.
However I suspect you may have seen a Meta-physics version of the idea – NOT quite so legit scientifically.

There is some real science work based on MWI being attempted but not based on electrons hiding in MWI. Some think the weakness of gravity vs. the strength of other force particles might be explained by the loss of gravitons into some other dimensions. Obviously the experiments so far do not support anything like this yet or you would have seen headlines. I do not think any real science feels elecrons in our dimension are moving in and out of other dimensions.

Thus no one can say if the MWI idea is even correct yet, but I do suggest you try to understand QM and the debate around the various interpretations of it. MWI is just one of many. You will need to find a way the way to know when you’re looking at “Real Science” rather than some unsupported Metaphysical speculations or even crackpot ideas. It will take a bit of study to tell the difference.
