Exploring the Possibility of Inter-Dimensional Interference

In summary, the dual slit experiment proves that single photons and even buckyballs have to interfere with something right ? Even if it's only themselves ? So is it possible that they could be interfering with coppies of themselves from other dimensions ? Maybe 20 of them, as proposed by string theory ?

I believe the dual slit experiment proves that single photons and even buckyballs have to interfere with something right ? Even if it's only themselves ? So is it possible that they could be interfering with coppies of themselves from other dimensions ? Maybe 20 of them, as proposed by string theory ?

Thing is, I also believe that baryonic matter only makes up about 5% of the Universe ? Or 1/20th of it. Is that just crazy coincidence ? Or is there some special significance or reason for the figure of 5% ? Could the other 95% be 'locked away' in 19 'other dimensions' that interfere with ours whilst remaining to all intents and purposes invisible to us ?

Just wondered if this has been answered ? Or if it's even a valid question...?

String Theory and the presence of so many multiple dimensions is a highly theoretical subject, so it's hard to tackle. My understanding of quantum mechanics is that particles in the double slit experiment interfere with themselves. All matter is supposed to have a dual nature, taking on characteristics of a wave and a particle. If you do the QM calculations and diagrams for a particle, like an electron, going through a double slit, you'll see that the wave function of the electron diffracts through both slits, as a wave should, and interferes with itself, no extra dimensions seem to be needed.

As for the Baryonic Matter ratio, I don't think scientists have a definite, calculated number for exactly how much matter in the universe is baryonic. It could be exactly 5%, (unlikely), it could be 4.9857485%, or anything in the relative vicinity, you get the picture. It's probably not a really simple number, if you were to be able to really calculate it precisely, just like any other constant of nature, so no, I don't believe it is a coincidence. As for matter locked away in other dimensions we can't see, that's a pretty cutting-edge question, I wouldn't be qualified to answer it, I don't anyone is.

Thanks, I see what you mean. I shall ponder some more. I just thought it would be a neat solution for dark matter, dark energy, wave/particle self interference etc? I mean, if there really were multiple 'invisible particles/waves' from other dimentions that interacted in certain ways with the visible ones in ours it could explain a lot ?

I was just wondering if anybody had worked out if it was possible or not. Or if such a thing is even possible to work out in the first place.

Sorry but I have a habit of asking crazy questions :)

FAQ: Exploring the Possibility of Inter-Dimensional Interference

What is inter-dimensional interference?

Inter-dimensional interference refers to the potential for interactions or disruptions between different dimensions. It suggests that there are multiple dimensions beyond our own, and they may have the ability to affect each other in some way.

How is inter-dimensional interference explored?

Inter-dimensional interference is explored through a combination of theoretical physics, mathematics, and experimental observations. Scientists use complex models and simulations to understand the nature of different dimensions and how they may interact with each other.

What are some potential consequences of inter-dimensional interference?

The consequences of inter-dimensional interference are largely unknown and highly speculative. Some theories suggest that it could lead to parallel universes, time travel, or alternate realities. Others propose that it could have negative effects, such as destabilizing our own dimension or causing unpredictable phenomena.

Is there any evidence of inter-dimensional interference?

Currently, there is no concrete evidence of inter-dimensional interference. However, there have been some anomalous observations and unexplained phenomena that could potentially be attributed to inter-dimensional interactions. Further research and experimentation are needed to confirm or refute its existence.

What are the implications of proving the existence of inter-dimensional interference?

The implications of proving the existence of inter-dimensional interference would be immense. It would fundamentally change our understanding of the universe and open up new possibilities for exploration and advancement in science and technology. It could also have profound philosophical and spiritual implications, as it challenges our perception of reality and our place in the cosmos.
