Some of the following facts may be known to you. These facts were recently

very word "Navigation" is derived from the Sanskrit
word NAVGATIH.

8. The value of pi was first calculated by Budhayana, and he explained the

Budhayan's works dates to the 6th Century which
is long before the European mathematicians.

Quotes about India.

We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no
worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made. Albert Einstein.

India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the
mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of
tradition. Mark Twain.

If there is one place on the face of Earth where all dreams of living men
have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of
existence, it is India. French scholar Romain Rolland.

India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever
having to send a single soldier across her border. Hu Shih (former Chinese
ambassador to USA)

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG, THE LIST COULD BE ENDLESS.

BUT, if we don't see! even a glimpse of that great India in the India that
we see today, it clearly means that we are not working up to our potential;
and that if we do, we could once again be an evershining and inspiring
country setting a bright path for rest of the world to follow.

I hope you enjoyed it and work towards the welfare of INDIA.

Say proudly, I AM AN INDIAN.

UNIX isn't a programming language.

Q. Who is the new MTD (Microsoft Testing Director) of Windows 2000,
responsible to iron out all initial problems?
A. Sanjay Tejwrika

Not something to be proud of at all.

* 38% of doctors in USA are Indians.
Good thing.
* 12% scientists in USA are Indians.

* 36% of NASA scientists are Indians.
Good things.
* 34% of Microsoft employees are Indians.

REALLY REALLY BAD THING.

4. According to the Forbes magazine, Sanskrit is the most suitable language
for computer software.

How does that even work? On another note, it is far more suitable for philosophy discussions as well. Many philosophical ideas that are much more easily expressed in sanskrit than in english.

9. Algebra, trigonometry and calculus came from India. Quadratic equations
were by Sridharacharya in the 11th Century; the
largestnumbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 106 whereas Indians
used numbers as big as 53.

Actually the Arabs came up with algebra some 300 years before that. And those largest number figures...?

Other than that, kudos.

ahhhhh...BASICALLY ITS BECOZ OF POLITICAL ISSUES AND CORRUPTION BUT ITS NOW IMPROVING...DO U KNOW ABT THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA...A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM//

spender, if you have read some of my previous posts, you would know the answer, it's because we have stupid and corrupt politicans, but this new generation has some good leadership, and technology is now on the rise. Some of us don't want to be completely westernized, but at the same time we appreciate technology, what this new generation wants is Indian/Eastern morals and values with Western technology, but it will take some time before this revolution happens when all the corrupt people will be ousted, but we have such a huge population, that it will take a long time.

Laloo epitomizes the corrupt politician, his wife is the governor of his state and he is a minister..

I saw those eastern morals in action recently in Sri Lanka shortly after tsunami swept thousands to their deaths, some official from Sri Lankan financial institution said that this disaster is is good for the economy and lots of people going to have jobs in rebuilding ! You see, all of them long ago swallowed capitalistic hook and no eastern morals can fix your system.
India and the rest is destined to be third world forever.

  • #12
Now that is pure bigotry in my opinion, you being an outsider know nothing about what is happening in India.. Don't generalize an entire continent based on the actions of a few. I could say the same thing about Rice, who said that the tsunami was a "wonderful opportunity" that produced "great dividends". But I am not stupid enough to generalize that the whole Western world feels like that and so all of them are uncaring, cold-hearted individuals.

I would commend that man because despite such a horrible incident, he is brave and smart enough to look at the bright side. What happened as happened, now you have to look towards the future.

I assure you whatever country you are from, the feeling is mutual. Not all of us are "turn you other cheek" suckers of the philosophy that Gandhi preached.

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone lays a hand on you, send him to the cemetery.

That's the kind of philosophy that we support.

"but I would not go there ever, people creep me out with their staring."

I think i might explain that, this is what goes on in their minds:

Oh god, what is that gora guy doing here? Does he want to steal our money again, didn't he already come and steal everything? Maybe if we keep staring at him, he will disappear. Oh mighty ganesha, make that guy disappear.

just kidding. :blushing:

If you read the whole post you would understand. Now, we as a country are a just bunch of worthless robots in my opinion, but before we were the pinnacle of math and science. Then the Mughals, Monglians, and the British came and our civilization fell down and hasn't risen yet.

The character of a country is determined by its philosophy - its constitution. The Indian Constitution is one of the worst. That is why the country is going down the drain.
And there is no use of living in the ancient age.

I am an Indian, BTW.

That's great. If I criticize some aspects of India I am a traitor?

Do you even know what a traitor is?

Being an Indian, you should know that the Indian Constitution is exactly based on England's. That should explain your misconceptions.

First of all, I never said I admired the British Constitution.
Secondly, the Indian Constitution is not exactly based on England's, it is a mixture of several different constitutions.

These people are not the talent of India. It's their own talent. India cannot and does not own any part of them or their ability.

You wouldn't expect them to sacrifice their own happiness for India or more correctly, the one billion population of India?
