The room had new carpets installed and its a bit too long as a result it's hard to close the door. What can I do to make the door easier to close?

To fix this issue, you will need to remove the door from its hinges. Then, use a saw or planer to shave off a small amount of the bottom edge of the door. This will create enough clearance for the door to open and close smoothly without rubbing against the carpet. Once you have trimmed the door, reattach it to the hinges and test it to make sure it no longer rubs against the carpet.
This could be due to the height of the carpet being too thick or the door being too low. When the carpet is installed, it creates a thicker surface for the door to move across. This can cause resistance and make it difficult to open and close the door. To fix this, you may need to adjust the height of the door by trimming it or adding shims to the hinges.
Yes, there are a few steps you can take to fix a door that won't close properly after carpet installation. First, check to see if the door is rubbing against the top or sides of the door frame. If this is the case, you may need to trim the door or add shims to the hinges to adjust the height. If the door is not rubbing, it may be due to the carpet being too thick. In this case, you may need to trim the bottom of the door to create enough clearance for it to close properly.
It is recommended to wait at least 24 hours before adjusting the door after carpet installation. This allows the carpet to fully settle and for any adhesive used during installation to dry completely. If you attempt to adjust the door too soon, it may cause damage to the carpet or the door frame.
While some door problems may be unavoidable after carpet installation, there are steps you can take to minimize the chances of experiencing them. Before installing the carpet, make sure to measure the height of the door and adjust if necessary. Additionally, consider using a thicker carpet pad or trimming the bottom of the door slightly to create more clearance. And always make sure to allow enough time for the carpet to settle before adjusting the door.
