In summary, a person who is new and looking for suggestions can seek out recommendations and advice from others in order to gain knowledge and insight on a particular topic or situation. This can be done through various means such as asking for recommendations from friends or colleagues, researching online, or joining a community or group where individuals can share their experiences and provide guidance. By actively seeking suggestions, a person can learn and grow in their understanding and knowledge on a particular subject.

Hello,

I've recently joined and I'm looking for suggestions of a good starting point around here(other than the forum rules, obviously).

What is a good forum area to start into get more familiar with the "meat and potatoes" of everything available here?

Any particularly interesting and informative threads to start with?

It really depends on your interests. Many of the forum sections have a FAQ or Reference thread stickied to the top of the thread list. For example, The Electrical Engineering has an excellent sticky titled Useful EE Links and Search Engines.
