When replying to a post today, I actually got a bit confused for a moment to see a medal
hanging below the user name and I wondered, hey, where's my reply gone. It was a pleasant surprise to realize that it was me, after all. It's a good feeling. Thanks all.

Congrats on the medal, SS! You should now notice a new forum appear near the top of the Main Forums page. Don't be afraid to step inside! =)

Ooh, is it the inner circle? I just posted a msg there saying I really never knew that this forum existed. Now it's making sense. And thank you.

Big congrats from here as well! Keep up the great work. Hey, you know for the longest time I didn't know it was a medal. I thought is was some kind of light bulb.

And I thought it was just a blue ribbon hanging from a smiley without eyes and mouth. Thank YOU again.

Congrats!

Congrats to both of you! To Shooting Star for getting his medal and for Dick for getting the 2007 award. Both well-deserved! All of your efforts are much appreciated.

Echoing Doc Al, congratulations Shooting star on the medal, to Dick for the 2007 HH award, and to Gokul for the 2007 Community Spirit award. All well deserved.

Thanks for all the efforts and contributions to PF.

Also, thanks to all the nominees for the awards, and all those who participate in and contribute to PF and make it the great place that it is.

This is for Dick

Listen all, I've made a terrible fool of myself today. I confused Dick with sombody who already was a PF guru or something of that sort. So, his award didn't register in my mind. In fact, when he complimented me, I said thanks instead of congratulting him. His contribution is far greater than mine. Instead of making up a story to cover myself, Dick, I am so sorry for being really obtuse. (I hate being obtuse.) And a big, big hand from me.

Very well done Shooting star. I said that in the HH forum but I may as well say it here too.

Yet more congrats to Dick and Gokul.

Definitely! And I hope many of the members you helped appreciate your effort as much as many of us do!

I've already congratulated both Shooting Star and Dick, but along with everyone else at PF I'd like to offer my appreciation to everyone at PF, nominees, winners, mentors, admin and all the regular users that make PF such an excellent forum.

I'd also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year

All right. Look at this. The first person to wish me and I don't say anything back. Gokul, you have the largest number of medals I've ever seen on anybody, and your Wannier function for strongly interacting 2DEG always makes me a bit dizzy. That's why I didn't pay much attention to something below it that vaguely resembled it. But now that I know it's your strongly interacting community spirit, please accept my heartiest congrats.

Fine, that's two gaffes in a day. Did I mention that I hate being obtuse?

I have been here just a few months and so don't know much about the other guys who got the other awards. Kurdt just directed me to the list. My best wishes and congratulations to all of them.

You guys probably have no idea how pleased I am with what we're doing here at PF, or how glad I am to be a part of it. Thanks to everyone who contributes here -- as a student, advisor, homework helper, benefactor, mentor, or just avid reader!

Dead right. I felt SOOO slighted. In fact, I think EVERYONE who posted on this thread celebrating Shooting star's HH award should go back and review their post to make sure they congratulated ME before even mentioning Shooting star. :)
